Canadian protesters catch out police agent provocateurs

OK convinced now. All I can say is they were the most amateurish bunch of plainclothes police I've ever heard of, the whole point is to blend in which they totally failed to do.

they were a double bluff, the real bad guys are still out there, dressed like jesus and a bunch of priests,

They were really crap agent provocateurs, right down to the aggressive body language towards fellow activists :)

superb.

I like the bit were they have a little friendly chunter with the line of cops, then for no reason whatsoever force their way through thus getting nicked.
Super cool :D

Which is closer to the truth than it sounds - probably... Diversionary Tactics innit...

Oops! I bet someone's got a right shafting for this.

doubt it. If it was the RCMP possibly, but not this particular police force.

eta: I'm bias, though - i used to live in that province and was scared of them. Now I'm in Ontario, the fear has increased. They are not very nice.

Ahhhh, so that's why they were carrying rocks then?

Clearly it can't be the police's fault:

Quebec police [say] ... someone shoved a rock into the officer's hand and ordered him to throw it. When the officer refused, he and his compatriots were exposed as non-protesters.

at the exodus demo outside the police station, only one arrest, for incitement

turned out he was undercover plod

im sure plenty of other people can offer examples

db, you seem quite a nice bloke, do you ever suspect things went on in the force that they just didnt tell you about cos they didnt want to upset you :D

I'm well aware that undercover officers may be present in demonstrations - I have actually deployed officers in such roles.

I was referring to officers acting as agent provocateurs to get a demonstration to kick off. In all the policing of protests I was involved with I never encountered anything at all to suggest that that was the case (and in every case where it did kick off, the instigators turned out not to be cops).

well he was arrested for inciting violence

but whatever, im sure youre right, the police can do no wrong, lets ignore that youve already been proved wrong twice on this thread

i really dont understand why you cant grasp it db, are you really so blind to some of the things the old bill have got up to or are you actively lying to pursue some sort of agenda

although it has to be said, most of the times ive seen things kick off you havent needed undercover to incite trouble, uniform usually manage it quite well on their own

but the question i asked earlier in jest is relevent, would you really know exactly what fit, tsg, special branch, cops from outside your juristiction or more secretive organisations such as mi5 are really up to at large demonstrations

as a cop, who according to you played by the book, then do you really think you would have been informed about any illegal activity on behalf of the old bill or security services

Would detective-boy really go on the record and state that he was in charge of undercover officers being instructed to break the law?

It really is quite pathetic how anything which doesn't fit in with the paranoid imaginings of some posters is dismissed as bollocks.

It is a fine picture you paint of me being the only honest officer, being kept blissfully unaware of all the unlawful activity going on around me. You really do need help.

May not be police in some of these AP scenarios might well be journos. I knew from when I was photographer that I got paid more money if it kicked off than if it didn't. Although I didn't encourage people to kick off to line my own pocket I reckon there probably were people who would have done.
