goldencitrone can now get ACAB tattooed on his forehead now he's officially out.

I asked the tattooist for one and the daft cunt went and put TAXI right across my forehead. Probably ex-plod, by the looks of him. Fat, sweaty and the worse the wear from alcohol. :)

WHO is saying otherwise? Certainly not me. But you wouldn't think that judging by the fucking posts by others. Which is the fucking point I am making.

DB, then why dont you stick to the point being dealt with, the unjustified use of force by police officers, instead of seeing this topic as an attack on democracy?

The officers who tasered Robert Dziekanski at Vancouver Airport, will not be charged for his death. Apparently the five taserings [the cops said two at the time] were not the cause of death, according to Crown Counsel. The actual cause was dehydration, or something like that.

Dehydration that happened because of the tasers what else?

This is again a classic example how a policeman can kill someone and get away with it.

Taser is a modern way of torture nothing else. Police are tempted to use it as they can effectively hurt their victim without getting very tired. The problems it can create to someones health are far worse than a "typical" beating and death can always be a result. The fact that they know that they can use the taser for no reason and still get away with it (even if they kill someone) makes it a very very dangerous weapon in their hands.

:(

With the number of people dying at the hands of the police, I often wonder why anyone would choose this profession.

We recently had race riots in Montreal after a young person was shot by the police. The police were exonerated. The tazer death in Vancouver, again the police were exonerated.

At times, I thing that we expect police to be less-than-human - not to panic, not to use human emotions. We expect them to look at a situation and immediately become robo-cop or something. It doesn't work that way, imo. People are people and have normal reaction time.

I see no problem with the fact that police sometimes make mistakes, everyone does. But not always, sometimes they did act correctly.

I'm glad the the police in Vancouver, Montreal and other parts of the country are being cleared. imo, they did what they thought was best.

oh - just for the record, I have no love for tazers, nasty little things.

Anyone have any stats on the number of times that tazers have been used and not caused death?

The cop up north, where the person under arrest was shot in the back of the head: that cop was exonerated too.

It's nice to see that Canadians are acting in the light of the latest taser inquiry.

I see that some Edmonton police are refusing to carry them and that Ontario is ordering all tasers to be checked to make sure that they are functioning within the manufacturers guidelines.

Even the opposition parties (Liberal's first, followed by NDP) are questioning the use of these vile weapons.

Opposition parties want the RCMP to stop using Taser stun guns after the force refused to reclassify the weapons to restrict use.

The Liberals and NDP say the Mounties missed a parliamentary committee's deadline Monday to categorize the 50,000-volt electronic devices as impact weapons.

Reclassifying Tasers would limit use to situations where a person assaults police or the public, or poses a serious threat of harm or death.

An all-party committee of MPs called for the restriction last June until Taser safety claims are supported by impartial studies.

The public safety committee also said the RCMP should have strict guidelines to limit multiple firings.

The RCMP sent several of its Tasers for testing recently after a study commissioned by the CBC found four out of 41 guns discharged more electrical current than Taser International, the U.S.-based manufacturer, says is possible.

Liberal public safety critic Mark Holland says the Mounties have done little in response to concerns. "That's just not acceptable. It's not like they've had two weeks; they've had six months."

An RCMP spokesperson said no progress report was sent to the committee because Parliament isn't sitting. The RCMP says reclassifying the Taser as suggested could threaten police and public safety.

An August briefing for RCMP Commissioner William Elliott maintains the Taser "is an effective tool with very limited injury rates." The force says it has restricted Taser use and now requires officers be retrained each year.

More than 20 people in Canada have died after being hit by a Taser.

NDP deputy leader Thomas Mulcair said rules are unclear. The problem, he says, is people perceive "the Taser as being electric pepper spray ... something that could control someone who was in difficulty. Unfortunately now, with over 20 deaths, it's incredibly obvious ... they're too dangerous to be used without proper rules. And we don't have proper rules."

Holland says that doesn't go far enough. "For an issue that has demanded the national attention as much as this issue has, because of the fact that there have been serious injuries and deaths, we expected a lot more."

Action at last :)

We'll wait and see if the Mounties listen.
