i bought these about a year ago for £35 price has gone down, and they are well worth the money the quality is amazing!
Not exactly subtle though, are they?! :D

Don't bother with the etymotic earphones - absolutely rubbish in comparison to the shure e2cs I used to have.

Just subscribe to What Hi-Fi Magazine for three months.

Will cost you £10.15 and you get a free set of Goldring GX200 earphones worth £50.

If you are feeling flush then order two subscriptions :D

I actually got both the Sony Fontopias and Sennheiser CX-300 (in error) but the Sennheiser's win with alot better bass, plus they were cheaper to boot and obviously not fake. The seller was a bit crap though, didn't answer my questions in advance about p&p and refused to combine even though I asked him in advance (well, I know they were cheap but...).

Oooh- this thread got me deciding to buy a new pair of canalphones: just ordered some Shure Ec2s from Play.com, 50% off @ £29.99 inc delivery!
now listed at £35, 41% off

temped, but i've already got a pair, well half a pair as 1 side gave up the ghost after about six months and now the other one has developed a crack in the cable about an inch away from the earphone. got them from a US seller on ebay though so no warranty :(

they were lovely while they worked but not sure i'll bother again

of the 2 reviews on Play.com, one of them mentions that the warranty doesn't cover damage from everyday use anyway. piss poor imho :(

As the same happened to mine after a year of use. I passed them back to turnkey, but they tried to fob me off saying it was everyday wear. Not sure what the outcome was, cos I ended up being out of the country for ages after.

Mine are still going strong after 3 years - no gripes here.

You know what? I'm really not impressed with the Shure E2C's at all.

They're fiddly to wear, and the palaver applying those little sticky protective inside covers is a right fucking pain in the arse.

Crucially, it's the sound that disappoints the most. Where's the bass?

I'm not entirely convinced either, although i am turning the volume down lower on them than i was with my Sony ones.

Think i'll mess around with the ear bits a bit for a better fit. Yeah, the medium sided black ones are much better and bloody hell are they good at sound isolation!

Of course I suppose this is only if you want in ear headphones.
The in-ear pair that came with my old Windows phone actually sound better than the Shure ones.

They have those little black textured covers that slip over the 'phones and they're very good for staying in your lug 'oles.

Bob: I'm glad it's not just me. I was expecting this fantastic sound and it's, well, very very average with little bass and a little bit of harshness in the treble dept.

I've been reading a lot about bottom of the range Shure headphones being rubbish. I'm steering clear for sure

i found the medium orange foam sleaves the best for sound insulation than the others, and as they're foam they're washable, just in case you're ears are as productive as mine for wax

i wasn't overly impressed by their sound when i first got them, but i really noticed how much better they were after i tried going back to my old Creative pair a week latter.

still not sure whether to get another pair or not, but i'm sick of only having 1 earphone. any other suggestions?

also, 1 thing i hate about the E2c's is how much noise the cable makes. you only have to tap it lightly and it's like having a bass drum going off in your ear. bloody annoying

You route the cables over your ears- from the front, that way all vibration from the cable is damped by your ears and not transmitted to the canalphones. I still haven't got mine, despite them being dispatched on the 10th October form Play! Streatham post office is still in local dispute, so we haven't had much mail for the last month...
