Can you recommend an ISP

warszawa

Gracias y kocham cie todo
Can anyone recommend a broadband package, one that's cheap but good value for money in terms of speed.

"Be Value " from bethere.co.uk are who I'm using right now. Great speed, no hassles, 14 quid straight per month.
Used to be with Orange, they will never receive a Christmas card from us ever. Useless.

I was about to post a thread.

We're leaving Orange, after yet another drop in connection that they show no interest in repairing.

I hadn't heard of be before, will look into it, but has anyone tried fast.co.uk? The reviews I've read of them have been fantastic, but they seem a little pricey. Nice to hear their call centres aren't in Asia, though.

I want to get off Virgin and onto be. I need the Virgin telly (can't get sky) and they are making me keep their phone line or pay a stupid amount for the telly...Bastards

I'm with Be so they get my vote.

Out of interest, what are your issues with Virgin? A lot of people seem pretty dissatisfied. Just wondering what the main problems were?

I'm with Be, I love them. No Xmas cards but I will be sending a Valentines day card! Oh yes I will!!

I signed up with Telewest before the merger for an UNLIMITED service which I was happy with. Now with Virgin between 4pm and 12am I'm allowed to download 3gig at maximum speed 20 meg before they cap me to 500KB/s  This is crazy when a normal DVD comes in at 4.5gig.

Also I don't often get the full 20meg speed as promised outside peak times and I keep on having to swap ports in usenet to get around some traffic shaping system they deny having.

It seems as though they've prematurely upped the speed without investing in the necessary infrastructure in order to say "look everyone we've got 20 meg cable!" to keep up with the ADSL ISPs. I was actually getting a better service and was very happy on my old 10 meg unlimited. God know what it's going to get like when they try and upgrade to 100 meg

There's all that and the upstream is crap for torrent ratios ;).

Be unlimited are having a few bottleneck issues in certain areas at the moment but have upgrades coming on stream in the near future.

I hope Be are going to be good for me. Coming to the end of my Pipex 12 month account in april and moving away from these gits asap.

Speeds on Be have been really crap over the past couple of weeks. They're having a hard time admitting they have a problem. I'm not as impressed with them as I was a month ago.

o2 £7.50 up to 8 megs if you have monthly contract with them, and free connection up to tonight. Only spotted the offer yesterday! Hope this is faster than ukonline who I have had no problems with.

looks like o2 own be*, so if you all recommend be* it looks like I haven't made a hasty mistake.

adsl24.co.uk one of the few ISPs in the country that don't cap or throttle bandwidth, 330GB a month download capacity (although there are other packages), one months contract, VOIP, amazing control panel (if you're geeky) and shit hot support. They're the best ISP in the world.

Brett has posted this, so its on order, Brixtons going to get a 10Gig circuit you bunch of leeches!! Hackney which is where I am, is getting upgraded, but I've not noticed anything bad so far.

As you can see Be/02 is still investing in our network to let our members have the unlimited experience that you all enjoy

Kind regards,

They can admit it on their forums, but their technical support guys are fobbing me off. I'm not impressed at all.

Blag can I just ask, exactly how much bandwidth do you need? I'm on the Tulse Hill/Dulwich exchange and have had no drops in performance for ages, aside from a posted line outage a couple of weeks ago...

Now with Virgin between 4pm and 12am I'm allowed to download 3gig at maximum speed 20 meg before they cap me to 500KB/s

They only do it between 4 and 9 pm, now.

I would broadly agree with your other comments, although my 20 meg has improved a lot in the last couiple of months. I think they're getting there gradually with the infrastructure, area by area.

Not loads, but if I'm paying for an 8mb service then I expect at least 6. I was getting 6 until 2 weeks ago, now I get 1.5 - 3

Really good isp. Nice personal touch with them and
great speeds and download limits for the price.
You can also cancel your contract with them easily if you want to.

Obviously you can go higher speed with bethere if it is
available in your area, but I'll cross that bridge....
