Can you feel the love?

Anyone prepared to comment on teh actual content of the OP's link. The fact the Gaza Strip under Hamas will become Saudi Arabia without the oil...??

No thought not.. as you were..
Oh, do open your eyes, FFS. The OP is a self confessed racist, an anti-muslim zealot and an advocate of Israel. I don't think anyone here thinks the content of his post is less than deplorable, but it's obvious what the OP's intentions were.

And anyway Saudi has never ethnically cleansed Christians to my knowledge. Israel is the prime example of a nearby country that has driven out other ethnicities, I would have thought, with millions of ruined lives on its grubby hands

Spion,

whatever the OPs intentions were the original article still stands. We are seeing the same in other muslim countries. A fundamentalist/ultra religious group comes to power (locally or nationally) & we see persecution of religious minorities. Other examples would be Pakistan, Afghanistan under the Taliban or Sudan. In each of these countries when a fundamentalist regime has come to power attacks & persecution of religious minorities has followed.

Yes I know that Hamas were elected in free & fair elections (as declared by various international monitoring organisations) but whilst Hamas were effective opposition they do not know how to govern & do not have the required technocratic nous to run a country. You cannot run a country by religious edict that will just lead to a failed/corrupt state. The bottom line is a radical muslim "state-let" on Israels borders will allow the Israeli carte blanche to do what they will. Withhold funding, increase military operations, turn the entire Gaza strip into the worlds largest open air prison. Actions like the those in the OP's article do not help the population of Gaza it just allows Israel & teh west to shrug their shoulders & go "well look what happens when the radicals of Hamas takeover.."

Regarding the fact that 45% of Israeli youth avoid military conscription. This is mainly the ultra religious Jews who also get large welfare handouts, as they do not work, have large families & are the driving force of teh Greater Israel movement. But their political parties hold the balance of power in Israeli elections so they are courted by the coalition governments how cannot govern without their support. For these reasons they are greatly resented by most non ultra religious Israelis.

I've no argument with that, but actions tend to cause reactions etc

Your evidence on this? You may be right, but they have been sabotaged from the start, which somehwat masks any ability to see their capabilities

Is that what's actually happening tho? Is that how Hamas operates day to day? I doubt its practical running of things is all airy fairy religion-based. I suspect that Hamas are in fact little different to any political organisation in resource-poor countries where patronage and connections is key to getting on in life, and that their religious language is jsut the idiom it is conducted in.

That's just a reflection of the balance of power. There's no reason why israel - a radical Jewish statelet based on the brutal ethnic cleansing of the land's inhabitants - should be seen as any better. It's just that the most powerful nations in the world happen to support it

Andy the Don - that group being discussed - the salafist group - they're not Hamas. Why are you talking about Hamas instead of Jihadia Salafiya?

But these acts against Christain schools/churches have only occurred since the Hamas takeover of Gaza. The Salafist group claiming responsibilty would have felt that since the Hamas takeover they opportunity was right for these actions. These actions did not happen in a politiocal vaccum. es I do know that Gaza is made up of many different clans/militas with loose links to each other & a central government.

Spion.. That occurred to me too. I guess they all look the same to some people .. ha-ha highly original but not called for..

I suspect it's not just some airy fairy 'ooh, hamas are in power now let's get more muslim on some christian ass,' but has a great deal to do with the breakdown of society owing to the siege conditions in Gaza.

Anyway, it beats me why anyone is surprised about a possible 'Muslim' state in Gaza. I mean, it doesn't take Einstein to work out that some Arabs might think a religiously exclusive state is a good idea when they've had a 'Jewish' state beating their asses for 70 years

Oh, just a bit of gentle ribbing based on your failure to distinguish between islamic political groups :)
