I was collecting 70s reggae when you were still listening to Def Leppard.

Yes indeed, although my favourite, Lion Rock, is 80s.
Then you have never collected reggae.I was collecting 70s reggae when you were still listening to Def Leppard.
I cannot believe no one has mentioned Lee 'Scratch' Perry yet!
you're like a cabbage in this society
I'd go for Two Sevens Clash myself. Been listening to a lot of Niney the Observer recently, I missed him the first time around.

To be fair - if you listen to half of 70's reggae, you are probably listening to something of him.
personally, I think he is overrated as a result of a disproportionate amount of exposure in the UK in the 80s/90s.I thought it was too obvious but I guess not![]()
They're differentMiller I think it will be.
is he better than U-roy?

I like some of his stuff, the early stuff really, but can't be doing with the over-fiddly productions. It gets too noodly for my tastes

Anyway, I'd recommend the Trojan Anthology, Rebel Music.
And Mighty Diamonds, Right Time.
The Congos, Heart of the Congos.
And Burning Spear, Marcus Garvey.
and I've just discovered the mighty "blood and fire" by Niney the Observer as a consequence of this thread, what albums do you recomend?
I've just stuck it on a mix I've posted to U75 radio and here http://www.urban75.net/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=9072454&postcount=2101Horace Andy, if only for Skylarking (there's loads more imo), which is a riiiight tune.

Arkology. Tis good. That 3-CD Lee Perry thing from about 2002 with all his 70s stuff on (some his, some he produced) is amazing
