I'd go Fujifilm or lumix tbh. Had some very nice pics with each

What kind of photos do you want to be taking? Do you need a big zoom (at the expense of inferior low light shots)...

Reasonable optical zoom, say 4x minimum. General photography, scenery people etc. Good anti-shake would be very useful, sadly, at 65 there is a wee bit of tremor. :(:)

I need a camera that I can just stick in my jacket pocket, so I can always have one.

Low light capability is more important than big zoom.

Have you got a CEX near you? You can get some good cameras at decent prices, and some of their gear now comes with 24 month warranties.

a_chap When the world came apart, where were you?

I recently bought a Canon GX7 (mark 2) secondhand on Ebay for £300. It's a great little camera but also nice and quick, so I recommend you consider it.

Image quality is pretty good too!

I went for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ57.

It arrived this evening, I'll post some pics in due course.
