Also tipped is Yoav, who's an Israeli-South African who apparently does all his music, including the percussion on his guitar. Recommended song is "Wake Up".
Had a listen to them. I thought they sounded like a bit of a festy band. Good to listen to in a field hopped up on pear cider, but doesn't translate to the living room for me
Good. I think Ladyhawk sound more like Black Mountain in parts but there are three other great songs on their current album Shocks.
They're on Jagjaguwar label, the War on Drugs are on Secretly Canadian and everything on those two labels are pretty cool.
If you're into FoW the try The Weakerthans especially their masterpiece Deconstruction Site and if you download one track tonight make sure it's Plea From A Cat Named Virtute.
Much better lyrics than FoW. Plea From A Cat Named Virtute is a really bittersweet song about depression, namely a cat trying to cheer up its owner. Brilliant stuff. Deconstruction Site is their third album; the fourth and latest one that came out last year is more of the same but nowhere near as good. The first two are excellent as well.
