Campaign for a new Marxist Party

Sylvia Pankhurst was defintely not a pacifist! She completely correctly opposed the involvement of British troops in the inter-imperialist 14-18 war but was a supporter of the Bolshevik revolution and later still raised the question of Ethiopia in the workers' movmeent when it was occupied by fascist Italy (later still she became a friend of the semi-feudal dictator Haile Selassie but let;s not go there)

I'm glad to see uncontested and uncritical support from my Urban75 comrades.

As Lenin once said, "We shall now go forth and construct the socialist order!".

"In August 1921 Sylvia Pankhurst wrote: 'Frankly, we do not believe that society will reorganise itself without the use of force on both sides, because the present system is maintained by force.'"

But UR - Pankhurst wasn't a loyal Bolshevk ;)

It isn't at all clear whether it is to be a revolutionary party or a parliamentary party. Or perhaps it will just use parliamentary elections as a platform for revolutionary ideas. Or maybe it will just exist as a magazine and web site like so many other 'parties'. Nothing to see here.

The Electoral Commission will soon run out of alternatives names for all these, although saying that the only two I can find registered are Revolutionary Communist Party Britain (Marxist-Leninist), and Communist Party of Britain. Could have sworn there was a half-dozen not so long back.....

What about the Communist Party of Great Britain? http://www.cpgb.org.uk/

ETA Oh, they are linked from the page about this group.... I think I shall read the website :)

Okay, I have read the little that is on that website, and I wonder if this is not just a load of crap. The CPGB are on the front page as a link, which kind of hints at some kind of association, but there is no mention (that I can see, anyway) of the Campaign on the CPGB website, which is one which is kept up to date. The Campaign website hasn't been updated since 25 February, when the Founding Principles were drawn up, and doesn't name any sponsors or signatories. I think it might be someone's fantasy :)

Not sure what you mean by this, since the Electoral Register is a register of electors, rather than political parties, but I don't think the organisation mentioned in the OP is a party at all. In fact, I am not sure it even exists, other than as a notion in someone's mind. Not at all sure why it was posted, even :)

They may not have Ricky Tomlinson (confirmed to speak at CNWP conference) but they're still er.... involved in this campaign.

*tumbleweed*

I meant Electoral Commission's Register of Political Parties, of course :)
