Cameron tells the poor, fat, addicts: its your fault!

You'd know if he had. These techniques (proven to work) take time (maybe an hour session a week for 6 - 12 weeks). This costs money and requires training. It's much easier just to bung patches at people.

Well the good thing is the patches appear to be working. I've not given up completely, I still have a few when I'm out, but I reckon I'm down by about 95%. I hardly ever think about it now even when I forget to put the patches on.

Sometimes people don't take kindly to being told what to do by health 'professionals'. Neither my kids are overweight, they are disabled, yet I was lectured by an obese social worker to go on a 'parenting course' that included 'healthy eating'.

FFS! This from the woman that practically force fed my son toffees on car journeys.

It's probably part of her job to encourage all parents who are clients of hers to go on 'parenting' courses. Whether the courses are bollocks or not I've no idea - but I bet the obese social worker feels the irony (or whatever we should call it) of her promoting healthy eating more than you feel it. Fat people are not insensitive to these things.

I know social workers can be complete arses, but I wouldn't be harsh on her for being fat.

Why do you think she said that? (I'm genuinely interested, no hidden motive in the question)

It was a general parenting 'course' for parents of general disabled kids. Had it been autism specific I would have (and have been) on them.

It's just a bit of state nose poking, finger wagging punishment for having 'different' kids dressed up as unwanted 'help'. (cynical mode)

Had it just been a coffee morning general meet some parents it would have been different.

I think the old SW We had was very, very inexperienced (as well as bossy) and thought she had to get me on these things else she wasn't doing her job.

The fact she was morbidly obese and expecting me to go on a course that comprised healthy eating (whilst feeding my son sweets) was just class, though.

You're now addicted to the nicotine in the patches. Replacement drugs can be useful (patches are much less harmful than smoking - same as methadone is less harmful than street heroin). However, they're next to useless on their own as you're still left with the dependence.

It's probably part of her job. The govt want to encourage people on healthy eating courses, where no doubt, nutrition advice is "delivered". Getting people to change their behaviours requires a lot more than lecturing people.

I've found them very useful, I used to smoke far more than I needed to for nicotine replacement purposes, a lot of it was habit and the patches have broken that.

:D I think I'd have been too embarassed in her position to lecture others on healthy eating.

he's getting cocky isn't he?

With any luck the cunt will tell the voters what he really stands for. Mind you anyone working class who was telling opinion pollsters he/she was gonna vote for him is that thick Cameron could say anything and they'd lap it up

The thing is how ever much NL banged on about delivery, were sanctimonious, lecturing, harrassing, etc, it will be as nothing compared to the Tories.
