Cameras and smartphones at gigs

The second one is a bit pompous, but the first thing with LCD seems legit to me. I would love it if it was a regular venue/event.
Yeah it was the second thing I was talking about - seen a few things like that about recently and they seem more about appealing to people's desire to be into something exclusive than a genuine attempt to deal with the issues they say they want to deal with.

The idea that the DJ as the focus of a club night is a new development is nonsense too. When I started going out raving in 1994 the DJ booth was always surrounded by lads staring at the dj's technique, trying to see what tune they were playing, etc etc, and the clubs were 99% of the time set up with the booth as the focal point.

These things are all rave re-enactment societies trying to recreate something that barely existed except in their rose-tinted MDMA addled brains.

I like it when you see the pointless flashes going off miles from the stage.
I was just going to say that you used to see this all the time in big stadium gigs before phones - but at least with that the light is going towards the stage not towards people behind you. And is very brief. And will only happen max 36 times per person probably. Still just as useless of course.

There was this event a few years ago in Manc that seemed to address some of the complaints about club nights (mainly by hiding the DJ and concentrating on the music/soundsystem)

Impressive amount of McIntosh amps.

I think the novelty of filming gigs on a phone and uploading it to youtube has worn off over the last few years, I don't really notice any more.... either people aren't doing it as much, or maybe some kind of etiquette has developed so it isn't as annoying, or I filter it out, or I just go to cooler gigs now.
