No Teejay, sorry to disappoint. The situation on the tow path in Camden is obviously completely different to that on Coldharbour Lane.

Why is it?

Are you going to expand on this rather bizarre comment?

I was wondering about that myself.

How the hell is it an "obviously completely different" situation?

I'm afraid, Teejay and PK, that you are just going to have to be patient. I have many things to do that take priority over your needs. I will explain the difference between Brixton and Camden in due course. In the meantime, perhaps one of you has some ideas you would like to share with us?

The OB are starting a mahoosive clamp down on dealing apparently because it's got so bad lately.

I have to say, I have noticed this, we spend quite a bit of our time narrowboating Camden / Kings Cross area - they now light under all the bridges, there are many many more cameras and we noticed the presence of community wardens (if that's what they call them - excuse me if I'm wrong) and more cops. Every time we take the boat out out, we see at least one person get nicked. I wonder if, like what happens with prostitution, this is forcing the dealing away from the Camden lock area and onto neighbouring streets? Doesn't stop us being pelted with stones (and bizarrely doughnuts, the other day) though! :p

I wish people would pelt me with doughnuts :D

mmmm doughnuts *in homer simpson voice*

bizzarely for some time now the lenient approach to cannabis that other parts of the met supposedly use is not used by the camden OB who are prioritising clamping down cannabis users, arresting them, charging them, etc.

and yes, I live a 15 minute walk away from the main camden town centre, just outside the zero tolerance zone, and there are plenty of crack houses and scrawny dangerous looking addicts around here :(

Stop it, please, or learn to love the 'ignore' button.

inevitable these things happen in camden with the concentration of dodgy people in one area around the station. it had started earlier in the day with the two gangs having pops at eachother from a distance and they had been following eachother around. that someone died is just so unnecessary and sad.

this respect and honour thing that goes with these gangs is understandable but for chrissakes.....

I will hold phildwyer to his own high standards you can be sure Editor. Thank you for pointing this out.

It wasn't me who reported it, if that's what you're thinking.

So how is the situation in Camden "obviously completely different" to the one in Coldharbour Lane?

Apart from the fact a canal runs through one and not the other.

In your own time, phildwyer...

FYI, he didn't report the post.
Well that explains why in the last week he has laid into me in at least one thread where I haven't made even a single post.

abuse + abuse + abuse

That thread got binned due to his fuckwitted derailing but without any specific comment about his abuse so I am glad the issue has been clarified for him to see here and that he can't say he doesn't now know (and of course the same goes for me) - although of course maybe he was in fact warned by PM instead.

phildwyer, have you cooked up some nonsense about why the crack dealing situation is different in Brixton and Camden yet?

I know a few people working for a housing association in Camden - they are experiencing real problems with anti social behaviour on number of estates - usually drug/gang related.

The main drag of Camden has really gone downhill. I think it may have been partly due to the cleaning up of the Kings Cross area - this has pushed people involved in these activities further north. Plus Camden is full of gullible tourists.

Still waiting for you lot to eff off quite frankly. You've come to play ball in a thread that for a few people is interesting, and you just want to use it to play out some fight.

Can't you do it elsewhere?

Bollocks - it's relevant to the issue.

If you think there are no parallels between the situation in Camden and in Brixton then, er, you must be on crack.

Besides - nobody's posted on this thread in four days so I'm hardly interrupting some great lively debate...
