Camden Crawl

Me too, not everyone can pull it off.

Remember These Animal Men? :D:cool:

afaik that's all kept quiet until you get your wristband... unless anyone's got any inside info. So you're crawling tonight too, eh?

I was wondering maybe a Crawler had the info would post it...

Nah, I think I'll give it a miss*. I really ought to have a night in this week.... been to gigs every night this week, Bjork tomorrow.

*Although I am sorely tempted....

OK ..STP are on the Rough Trade Stage at the Enterprise at 9.30 apparently.
likely to be very busy though as also on the bill are Johnny Foreigner and Lets Wrestle and someone else.
They're also playing Friday in Brixton if you can't get in tonight but that gig should be rammo too.

hmm, enterprise is a bit far out of the way for me - don't want to spend too much valuable time walking so i'll probably stick to the central venues.

Thanks for checking that out though :)

story, earlier

Oi! Not lazy, efficient.

Anyway you're not going at all, that's much lazier!

(v jealous about Bjork though, you're a bit too cool for school eh)

Actually, I'm being efficient too, actually.

If I don't take a night off, I'll be no good for next weeks batch of hot shows.

It certainly is.

And thanks for the info twisted :)

fuck me ..it is so bad and so fucking arrogant; worse than i thought..."Full line-ups and stage times remain a closely guarded secret until each night. ..."

Have they taken Emily Eavis on as an advisor or what?

Equivalent events such as the Great Escape, In The City and all the US ones like SXSW publish the schedules.

Red Shite Camden Crawl also have the temerity to give advice about how to cope with queuing - if the published the schedules then people could plan their routing a lot easier.

I sympathise with innit saying Enterprise is too far away from the action but it may well not be. Could be someone cool at barfly playing either side of that so it could actually make more sense to hang out at the Chalk farm end but without any decent info who knows?

Fuck you Red Stripe

Hives not good?

Unbelievably dull people. Played a few festivals with them years ago and ended up staying in the same hotel after a few of them. They had a really strange 'business man-like' attitude and approach to it all which i had never encountered before, or since. very strange. very boring...

then again, most musicians are pretty boring people from my experience.

Plaid Stallion will be fascinating, and sexy, and laid back. But also exciting.

And just wait 'til we take the stage!!!!

hmm, good point.

I don't get the point of the secrecy at all - I have no idea what it's meant to achieve! The only difference would be that you could plan in advance and do a bit of research into bands you haven't heard of which would fit into your schedule - might even increase take-up of the lesser known acts.

Let's hope they're reading this :hmm:

I think there's a bit of the Glastonbury attitude in it, in that they think they have curated an event/happening that people will want to go for anyway. Substitute shit and mud for queuing in the rain and wind and you have the urban Glasto experience with one crap type of beer instead of another.
Twats.

If arsed, I suppose you could register on the Red Shite Camden Crawl site and bug them through the message board. I imagine you;d get a lot of support.

well, most of us probably worked this out but heres a post pasted from drownedinsound..

"£30 to see 4 bands? luckily i didn't pay and only won tickets but what a load of shit.
the way its marketed as a festival is ridiculous. the time schedule 4 slots for 15 different venues. so you get to choose one band out of every 15 or so to see.
will not be returning next year"

i certainly haven't rushed back after a year of queuing a while back. the year i went supergrass were headlining the dublin castle - which effectively took that venue off the circuit, as it was packed from the start with supergrass fans. very annoying as i'd wanted to see the support band there - can't remember who it was now. first time i went to the crawl, many years ago, it was fun because there weren't any big bands and it wasn't oversold at all, so you could get into the shows. but now it's a pretty pointless exercise.

i'd like to see it all done properly in brixton. we have enough venues after all. call it...erm...the brixton brawl?

Heh, that's a fucking good idea ian, and we wouldn't need to worry about all the hipster set cos they're far too shit-scared to show their faces around here.

I'm there!

Venues:

The Telegraph
George IV
The Windmill
White Horse
The Fridge
Mass
The Albert
The Academy
Canterbury Arms
414
Dogstar
Dex

What have I missed?

Is that venue still active on the top floor of St Matthews Church?

The Grosvenor
The Cavendish Arms (if that's not too close to Stockwell  - but then camden crawl includes Chalk Farm venues)

Does the Effra count as a venue - they have live music
Ritzy cafe

god I'm good :D

out of curiosity, who would you be looking to schedule at the 414?

Yes... I was wondering.... I mean, I nearly left it off the list and then decided to include it. But if we leave 414 off, then by rights the other clubs should also be left off.

DJ sets only? Dance acts?

I can't really see it working as a standard venue - where would the stage go? If I recall it correctly, it's pretty cramped in there.
