Camberwell - the best bits?

SE5 has covered most of it, though I baulk at calling the Sun & Doves good for food - in my experience it's over priced slop with atrociously rude service and annoying school dinners furniture.

Anyway don't forget Johnny's caff on Coldharbour Lane - best fry ups in the area.

Ruskin & Myatts Field parks are nice and great for the kids.

Have you been to the S&D recently? I agree it used to be a bit hit and miss but the food has improved greatly recently. The waiters also seem to have improved. I agree about Johnnies - far superior to Rock Steady Eddies if youre in the Coldharbour Road kind of area.

I add to my previous recommendations: the two 99p shops and the house and bay cafes. I would also add in the Fox on Hill Wetherspoons pub which has a pleasant garden and is dead cheap. Event-wise also the Camberwell Arts Festival is recommended.

Also I would add in the good transport links from Loughborough Junction which is on the edge of Camberwell - very handy for going South to places link Wimbledon, Sutton etc and on to Surrey and North to Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire

The Silver Buckle closed down about two weeks ago - I'm not sure when it will reopen but potentially will be better (cant really be any worse). Redstar is also closed.

This shows for me a fatal misunderstanding of the role that pubs such as the Silver Buckle provide for the community.

With it open, and a known place for the local loons, it keeps them away from all the other nice places.

All post codes need a 'Mad' House.

The Sun and Doves. Seymours sandwich bar (near the Hermits Cave) and that Greek deli (Sophocles?) near there.

You need never go hungry in Camberwell.

A shame that Kennedy's has gone though. :(

I have a confession to make. The 'friend' I spoke about is me! I dint want to jinx it before we signed the contracts.

Camberwell is
