Calling all Guitar hero fans - Rock Band is go!

You know I really must try this shit one day, I've not played any of these guitar/singing/drummy games at all...

Do people all get together then?

Are the drums just like playing drums then?
There's no hihat pedal, and on the easier difficulties there are plenty of hits in the songs that don't correspond to a beat you have to play. So no, not quite like the real thing. But close enough to be fun :)

So for Creep on medium I get in the high 90s for guitar and 100% for vocals. I think need to purchase a mike stand and go up a level to increase the challenge. :)

Edit: Actually, one thing which is pissing me off is the way the vocals are represented, because it only shows if something goes up and down, not how much it goes up and down (in an equally distributed way anyway). And reading the lyrics so split up is a bit confusing. Fine if you know the song and can hold a tune to some degree, much more tricky if you don't know the song at all. Shame there's not an extra option for reading music for those who can and would prefer to do that.

According to my sis who does actual drums, if you were nailing everything on hard then you could start thinking about learning to play actual drums. Big difference is the hi-hat (says her)

We're having a rest from the game here, we kinda overdid it this last month or so. Playing "Go With the Flow" on guitar and vocals on hard at the same time is frickin' ace mind

My band has gone on holiday.

No-one else will play it with me.

:(

I am making great progress on the single player World Tour on drums - on hard of course. Go With the Flow is actually the track stymieing me at the moment...

Trauma Biscuit have now officially entered the Hall of Fame and got the credits......

Still a long way to go before we unlock "Endless Tour" though I reckon.

Oh thats a shame about hitting stuff that isn't part of the beat. I hardly bother with hihat pedals anyway, keep it open for rock drums!!!

I mean the other way round. Like, you'll hear a thump-THUMP double bass hit in the song, but the game will only want you to play the THUMP one. On the hard/expert difficulty settings, you have to play the thump and the THUMP.

Haha! I've just managed to rig the drumkit up to my mac and now I can use it to play the drums in Reason

Requires two items:

1. Xbox360 controller driver http://tattiebogle.net/index.php/ProjectRoot/Xbox360Controller/OsxDriver (This works with the wireless receiver dongle thingy too, btw, but that's not important right here.

2. MultiControl http://www.arj.no/2008/02/25/multicontrol-v04/ - a little utility for translating game controller inputs into midi signals. There's actually a lot of extra stufff this can do, like turning analogue joystick movements into control surface values, but I just use it to trigger MIDI notes. I had to edit the XML config file to get the exact note values (all around the 40-60 mark, IIRC.

3. Add a new Control Surface in Reason, and Multicontrol is available in the list. Good to go :)

Unfortunately, multicontrol can't pass notes quite quickly enough, so fast drum rolls are out of question. It looks like Junxion http://www.steim.org/steim/junxion_v3.html is a much better bit of software, but it costs.
