Just got news my cousin and her family evaced on friday last week but their house of 20 years burned down in minutes. All ok, but no insurance the house was a gift from her husbands father who claims to own the beach front, so it going be a tough christmas for everyone over there.

They did not take much from the sounds of it and now have a go fund me sight, for $2k. They are on target.

That is why the LORD’s judgment is coming upon them in the first place. These pilots are incredibly courageous/insane

I suspect that some of it is just normal pilot behavior. I've seen crop-dusters fly under power lines for instance. But yeah, pretty freakin' awesome how they have to drop down nearly vertical and then haul ass to pull it back up. A DC-10 is basically a bus.

Check out 3:30 or so to see the pilot fly under a power line and then have to pull up hard to avoid a house.

IIrc, stuff like the redwoods are fire resistant and some species actually need fire to germinate. Been a while since I read about this at any level though

Redwoods wouldn't have evolved in the first place if fire wasn't a regular part of the ecosystem. A big part of the problem is that fires get fought or prevented in the first place. Means that all the dry brush and dead trees just build up and build up. When a big fire does happen, it's much worse as a result.

Both numbers have gone up, the dead to 71, the missing to over a thousand.

The latter number is surely just as a result of the authorities having a mismatch between the identified destroyed properties, and the displaced people they've had contact with?
