Buying art?

http://www.picturesonwalls.com/

Banksy's and Micallefs are always a good bet on here (when they're not sold out).

Maybe not to your taste, but they shoot up in value

Here's an indication

Ebay link - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Banksy-Donuts-Chocolate-signed-limited-edition-print_W0QQitemZ330372311924QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_art_prints_GL?hash=item4cebb96b74#ht_698wt_1167

You get my drift?

Im really into doing this...... i have the knowledge, but not the cash :(

easy money if you have the time to get the stuff at cost

whatever you buy, you have to like it.

if it gors up in value, then great

if not, then you have had the benefit of it on your wall

remember to build in framing costs - more expensive than you may think

there are "blue chip" arty things that will always make money if you hang on long enough , but you need 10K GBP as a minimum

iirc correctly banksy on does first sales on pictures on walls and he will only set a price of £500 ish for each original (something to do with being arty with ideals or something )

They obviously can go for massive increases on ebay.

Cheers for link.

I've been in the of those and both didn't really 'get' the art and (most importantly) felt well out of place.

What do you and your partner like?
Bear in mind that if you've been to exhibitions where there is stuff you don't "get", and which only art journos and gallery owners are waffling about, then it's a fair bet the stuff is "fashionable", and won't hold its' value, so buying stuff because it's "in" rather than because it appeals to you can be a big mistake.
I'd wait until the degree show season starts again, myself, and then take the time to "do the rounds", buy more than one piece too, if possible, and buy what you like rather than what someone tells you that you should like.
I'm a big fan of woodcuts, lithographs and prints produced through the intaglio processes, myself.
