On a slightly unrelated but very important note, budget for a 2nd hard drive, whether internal or external. You *really* want to make sure all your photos are backed up. If (ok, when) your hd goes tits-up, that's them gone, unless they're backed up.

(yeah, you could always burn them to cd's/dvds, but tbh that takes far more discipline, & hard drives are piss cheap these days)

If you really want to throw your money at something then get a really nice (and big) screen - or maybe even get two ... rather than worrying about extra RAM (above 512Mb) or a top end CPU.
