Hi, as I'm logged in today I thought I'd bring you all up to date on the saga of the ill-fitting butter dish lid. 
It fits a treat you'll all be pleased to know.
And has done since about late September 2008.
In fact it rattles a bit, as if it has possibly shrunk.
So this all this makes me think that the density of the clay was different, which is quite likely as it was probably mass produced and.....brings me back to my original question.... does pottery expand and contract (like glass) in reaction to heat?
