Butter Pies

i would do hun, but it'd break in the post, i fear.

they do 'take & bake' pies there actually: you could cook it in your own oven... dunno about packaging though. :(

I think we Northerners have done ourselves a good favour in getting the southern urbanites into butter pies. Next....tripe, black puddings, and Hot Pot!

mmm... butter pies and black puddings, two of my favourite things :)

I eat only honeycomb tripe, as I couldn't go anywhere near that ladies fingers stuff or whatever it is.

But a plate of honeycomb tripe swimming in vinegar and salt, straight from the fridge...hmmmmm lovely.

Went to Booths on your recommendation when up visiting Lancaster and found at their deli delicious sweet potato, cheese and onion pies-were pricey for 2.90 each but were happily half price and utterly gorgeous:cool:

I've moved from Preston down to London. And the thing I miss most (with possible exception of family/friends) is the Butter Pie :( Wonder if Ashworth's would send me a crate?

Ashworths sends over a tonne of butter pies into London on a monthly basis for Northerners who have migrated :D

Suprisingly it was bloody lovely, I think it was part of their local produce range:)

Be careful with that - I found some 'lancashire tea' - I thought:confused: Tea, from lancashire??? How does that work  and on closer reading, it was simply packaged in Bacup or somewhere - just put in the box, not even turned from tea to tea bag.

Sounds dodgy and underhanded that, sly fuckers:)

Hahah. Ah, Fleetwood has to raise money somehow now the fishing's packed in....

I travelled Londonwards a couple of years ago...Cornish pasties? Thousands. Sausage Rolls? Millions. Chippys? Well, yeah, a few. Could I spot anywhere with even the /chance/ of a butter pie....? Alas...no. If my wannabe music journalism goes nowhere, could my future lie in selling pastry to southeners....? =D =)

Just had a butter pie, unfortunately it was a hampsons one, so not the best, but the mere fact it was a butter pie, of course made it gorgeous. I must remember to get some butter pies from the market before I leave flaytwood for less butter pie tastic climes...

xxxx

Are the above kisses for the butter pie? :D

This sounds right up my street - I'm going to Scotland soon, would they have butter pies or is it a purely north of England thing? I think I like the sound of t'North... they do gravy on chips there as well, I'm told, which I haven't had since I left Oz and I love....

No, scottish pies should be avoided like the plague.

They will be - I don't eat normal pies, but a potato-based pie sounds lush --- shame it's so regionally-specific that I can't get one in London. Surely there must be a northern 'ex-pat' in London who might do butter pies for people who miss them?

I dunno.

You can't get em in a lot of the north, so why there'd be a demand in London I dunno, Like Yarkshire doesn't have em, or cumbria, so why would Lodnod?

I've not read through the whole thread but Morrisons do lovely butter pies so where there's a Morrisons there's butter pies :)

sorry if this has already been pointed out
