Butter or Margarine?

What's your bread-spread?

I'm surprised that nobody is mentioned that there are some margarines without the partially and completely hydrogenated vegetable oils. Some of them are liquid at room temperature, thus you won't need to melt it.

Frankly, I don't think any of this is healthy for you. I try to avoid this stuff as much as I can.

I eat more butter than I ever have done recently and I love salt :o

It's OK though as my blood pressure is low-normal and my cholesterol is normal too.

Bridel Brittany butter with Sea Salt Crystals --> knock yerself out! it's YUMMMMMM!

The worst marg I've ever tasted is St Ivel Gold. It might be low in fat, but I'd rather eat my own toenails.
I bought this because it was on BOGOF, and ended up throwing some of it away as it was so awful.

"Spreadable butter" should really be in its own category, being roughly 70% butter and 30% margarine.

And that's what I use. (Anchor, to be precise)

Hate both of the yellow bastards. What's the point? what is it's perpose. Marge in a cake maybe but don't put it on my bread that's just daft. In fact I don't want any bloody bread, that stuff is like 70 calories or somthing a slice, so is a glass of wine, have that instead. Mines a large one, cheers.

That's what I get, teamed with President Unsalted for cooking.

Butter all the fucking way.

Just had probably nor the healthiest but certainly one of the loviest dinners. Bangers, lovely buttery mash and kale chopped up and mixed with butter, salt and pepper mmmmmmmmmmm.

According to Geri's link, butter and margarine have the same fat content. Another reason to choose butter. :)
The margarine I buy only has 60% fat compared to 80% in butter.

Hey, I'm stating my opinion. If I eat a cake that's made with butter, it tastes far too rich and I can only manage a nibble.

...no need to be rude... :)
