Tomatoes are not needed some tomato puree in the patty is good
I know Tomato is the main culprit when it comes to messing up the bun but I still reckon it ought to be present - albeit as thinly sliced as possible
Can't argue with that, best burgers I make in the house are:
Cheese (owt, but blue cheese is good)
Sauce of yer choice
And that's it, lovely. In a nice bun.
What are folks views on raw onion? I think not on a burger, ideally not raw anyway. Grilled or fried is great though. And onion relish - preferably not poncey or too sweet, also good.
I like raw onion, not cut too thick though. Raw red onion very thinly sliced is great.
I am easy on raw onion, take or leave kinda thing.
I forgot to take photos of my burger. My mate said 'behind you there are half a dozen sad wankers instagramming their burger' at one point which made me remember to do it. Unfortunately, the burger had been disposed of by that point
It was an excellent burger however I have been plagued with some, digestive, issues since then
I don't mind thinly sliced and raw as it adds a bit of crunch to the burger, i prefer to put the sliced onion rings on the burger and leave it under the grill to soften for the last minute or so.
Pickled in a little lemon or lime juice for a short time, certainly. On anything from curry to a burger. Raw is OK but I'd rather have it very finely chopped rather than a fuck off wedge.
I’m fond of sprinkling chopped raw red onion over most things I eat. Gives a lovely crunch and flavour.
Wouldn't normally post about McDonald's here but I think we did go through a KFC double down phase, so I guess it warrants news about the 'grand big mac'
McDonald's Grand Big Mac & Mac Jr. Coming to the UK 7th February!
I'd rather have a double quater pounder. Big Mac sauce is pretty grim.
Raw red onion is very common on burgers though! especially poncey ones you see (and avoid) in 'gastropubs.'
Are you arguing that, just because I don’t care for the impractical nature of many expensive burgers, I’m a hypocrite for eating any of the component parts of said burger in completely unrelated meals? (Bread, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, red onion etc.)
Anyone had a Grand Mac yet? Thoughts on the size, etc?
I'm interested to know if it has the Kit Kat Chunky effect, where the increase in size creates a totally different taste.
So what’s your point then?
you jumped to a conclusion about something else, there, which wasnt related. I was asking folks where they stand on the raw onions on burgers issue! *shrugs*
The amount of emojis suggested otherwise but never mind
Ahh nay bother! My apologies too (without emoji!). We all love each other on this thread.
Absolutely! (kisses and makes up)
Not tried a Grand Mac yet
To be honest I am more a QPWC man myself
Me too. From the looks of things it looks like they've made the big mac a similar size to it's superior cousin.
Might have to try one this weekend!
What about the McDonald's posh 'Signature' burgers? Anyone tried?
They obviously took that picture before the Sumo Wrestler sat on them.
They employ one in each restaurant don't you know. To give the burgers that 'been sat on by a Sumo Wrestler' look.
Seems a decent portion
Tried a Grand this evening. Tasted like a Big Mac, just bigger. Got hiccups cos I ate it too quickly. Cat wanted a go on it too, but had to deny him.
