RIP Dandy Dan :(

"Martin Lev – Dandy Dan
As the smooth and sinister rival gangland leader and pioneer of the splurge gun, Lev was really rather good as Sam's nemesis, despite having an unconvincing pencil moustache. He showed a higher degree of acting talent than a lot of the other kids and this might be because he was quite a bit older; born in 1959 he would have been 17, although he doesn’t look any older than any of the others. A British native, Lev suffered from ME and waved goodbye to acting and became dedicated to raising awareness of his condition, becoming president of 'Action for M.E.' in the UK. Tragically Lev committed suicide in 1992. He was 33."

What i never understood was what the splurge gun did, once you got hit by one or a custard pie were you dead?? You never appeared in the film again. But if thats the case then why does everyone get covered at the end and be ok? Someone explain to me.

Why would you even expect a logical answer - or any answer at at for that matter - to a question about a kids musical where the guns fire custard pie things!!!

Cos some people have an un-healthy obcession with it.

I used to fuckin' love it. Partially responsible for me wanting to play the saxophone as well when I was 6.

That geezer from the bill playing a cop in it.....

So good!
And it had Dexter Fletcher and Bonnie Langford and Mark Curry off Blue Peter
in it!!!
And somehow Jodie Foster's "My name is Tallulah" was sexier than Rita Hayworth's "Put the Blame on Mame" from Gilda - even though she was a kid and that should be all wrong. But it isn't sleazy - it's just brilliant.

I love Bugsy Malone, it's my favourite film. I memorised most of the sogs and quite a bit of the script when I was little (any body who is anybody will soon walk through that door at Fat Sam's Grand Slam Speakeasy! Always able to find you a table, there's room for just one more at Fat Sam's Grand Slam Speeeeakeasy!). Fantastic.

was this fillum made before or after taxi driver, just out of intrest?

Same year, cos she also starred in the original Freaky Friday and some other thing called The Little Girl who lives down the Lane and another one called Echoes of a Summer.

It looks like TD was first but it was immediately before Bugsy.

Great film, my daughter has been in a couple of theatre groups that have done it, and had great fun.

One question, how does Fizzy the 4' tall sweeper up, who sings Tomorrow have a voice as deep as Lee Marvin?
