for a film that is pushing the boundaries I find it odd that they would cut out a scene with latoyah jackson just because of her brother's death - it seems ok to riducle people but it also seems that there are limits to how far it will be pushed, personally I would say that there are far worse things in the movie than the latoyah section

Saw it at the cinema yesterday, it was great, lots of laughs in the cinema. It wasnt perfect, and I got the vague sense that he was running a bit low on targets, but all the same it was a joy.

Well I can see why he wouldnt want a controversy about that to get in the way of all the other controversies the film is supposed to create. And I assume that he made some remark about Michael to her which would have meant leaving it in would be a tad iffy. The Paula Abdul version of that scene that was used instead worked just fine.

yawn

It's Borat II really, no doubt about it, those americans are easy targets. It has it's laf out loud moments but about half way through I became bored (it's only 80 mins long) not that the jokes were any less difficult to watch it just got to be a tedious kind of humour.

Also having been in Vienna this year his accent is pretty poor he sounds too English. Maybe this is the point but it've been better if his german-english accent was better and his german outbursts more convincing.

I imagine they'll put it back in for the DVD release, one thing insulting redneck homophobic Yanks, those Jacko fans though ;)

I found it very funny throughout.

Maybe film is a very subjective medium? But everyone else in the cinema was laughing hardly too.

It sounds like you are trying to be clever for the sake of it?

It was a very, very funny film.

If you want something deeper, read War & Peace.

I haven't seen it yet but i imagine its great. Borat was possibly the funniest film i've ever seen.
There was a bit in the Independent yesterday about a dancing couple from Redneckland who got conned. Even they admitted he was good.

what would REALLY have been funny is if for a DVD extra he turned up at a Jackson worshippers covention with a big cardboard cutout of Glitter

I said it was funny OK, I laughed alot, I just thought after having seen Borat the ideas / purpose ran out of steam here. Some of the best bits were too short e.g. being chased by the jews in Israel.

It did make me laugh, and i also found it too similar to borat.. altho i never expected anything else. the scene at the start with the velcro suit reminded me instantly of the antique shop in borat. From early on in the film it did seem as tho he was lacking in new scetches and also people to carry them out on.

I dont know how long he could have kept the scene going in israel to be fair, without being murdered there on the spot! :) that was fcking ace tho.
as equally dangerous as it was making reference to osama as a santa. :D i cant remember the exact words used.. .but he did look as tho he was about to be beheaded :D fcking hell.. talk about risk taking in the name of comedy.

Wonder what he'll do next, cant imagine he'll keep on inventing outlandish charactors in order to extract the urine from unsuspecting "victims," diminishing returns and all that.

Just watched the dvd. That's was fucking hilarious. I'm practically in tears. Brilliant.:D

Watched this last night on Sky Box Office.

I am still laughing.

Brilliant from start to finish - you do wonder how much is real though - like the cage fighting bit?

On the DVD you can watch the film with Sacha Baron Cohen commenting on how they set everything up. They did the cage fighting scene twice but couldn't use the first one as people were climbing into the ring to try and kill them. They had to stop it and do it again with fake barbed wire around the ring to discourage the good old boys getting near them. He says how strange it was that the whole audience were geared up for violence and were driven into a near frenzy by an act of love and affection.

America is scary.

But I remember Jane Leeves (Daphne on Fraiser) on Have I Got News For You, saying the people on the coasts of the States are sane - it's just the one's in the middle that should be avoided.
