Bruno

That's because he's not a vain twat with a puffed up ego like most of Al G's worthy targets. :)

The 'Bitch is a term of respect' bit was ace in that interview. I liked Ali G then. When he started doing movies and stuff it went a bit flat.

I'm looking forward to this film. Its fun when you realise that the people who are so po-faced and outraged by "Bruno" are those that are being ridiculed by it. :D

Serious Bit:

Its also good to expose people who are deep, ingrained homophobes. And to make sure people realise that even though we've come a long way there's still quite far to go...

:D do you realise how daft that sentence is? he hasn't been around for long enough to make that statement you numpty.

you just don't like him cos he's better looking and cleverer than you. :p

'funny' is subjective anyway.

Daft? No it's not. Has Ali G lasted the test of time? You tell me? I don't think so, think it became dated pretty quickly.

You are right, funny is subjective, some people like samey and simple, "comedy/business" and others rightly think it's a pile of shite.

Everyone is entitled to my opinion btw.

I think Richard Madely and the Queen Mum etc doing impressions made it a bit naff and oversaturated, but it's still funny and still relevant.

:D :D

aw, i'm not arguing with you....i can just see your face all scrunched up in annoyance. :D

i think Ali G will stand the test of time as it happens (even if it's not in a good way)

The only reason Ali G hasn't stood the test of time is because his creator has made progressively funnier and funnier films, appearances and shows.

Besides which, for a lot of "cool dads" out there he is still perfectly relevant.

I think he's really funny although he did Ali G to death.

The main problem I have with him is I just cringe with embarrassment all the way through. Borat had me crying with laughter but I actually had to turn it off a couple of times it was doing my head in so much. :D

This one looks good. Pissing Eminem off was funny, I thought.

I think he's a genius. Proof that a satirist has achieved his aims is when you hear the people he's satirising praising him. I heard these chavs talking about how funny Ali G was on the bus once. I honestly don't think they realised he was lampooning them... :D

I find "comedy" like this nauseating tbh. It's Maceedees, it's pop has talent, it's big brother, it's all of that sort of carefully packaged mainstream shite that seems to hit the bland average catch all spot that business men love.

In other words a pile of fucking shit for simpletons.

Jesus Relahni, there is absolutely no similarity whatsoever between Borat and the things you mention above

i know, it doesn't make sense  i think he was on the sauce at lunchtime. :D

ok ok Relahni - i'll leave it. i know, everyone's entitled to your opinion alright?!! ;)

Oh god.....

He's a top notch satirist imo. Anyone who gets the people who he's taking the piss out of to praise him is a genius satirist. end of story. He's more comparable with Jonathan Swift (in admittedly a more throwaway way) than the shite Relahni mentions. Borat had a lot in common with A Modest Proposal.

I don't think that's who Ali G was satirising :hmm:

i liked the Posh n Becks one too. i thought the one with the feminists was pants though.

actually, that's when i thought i might like ole Posh, she seemed to have a good sense of humour, which surprised me tbh.

it's also piss easy to do if you have the guts to do it. that's all it is, really.

Is it? Why? What will that achieve? Will they start guffawing once the joke is explained to them, like someone who's just had Jeremy Beadle unmask himself after blowing up his house? Or will this reaffirm their feelings having forced them into a corner and made them the butt (npi) of an uncomfortable joke.

I think it's good if you can expose the hypocrisy involved in public life: politicians and celebrities. But I don't get the humour in making an old republican look stupid. Is that guy likely to turn around and 'learn his lesson' that gays are great if SBC shoves his in character cock in his face?

It's just a little bit lazy.

Borat, Brüno, The Ali G Show ...all certainly have their moments that make you laugh.

Sacha Baron Cohen is funny yep , hilarious even at times, a comedy genius ? Haha, never would go that far. But still has made/makes some good fluff for the masses. Made God knows how much (esp. with Borat...) which is all a working comedian can really ask for anyway isn't it.

I like him. :)

I saw this yesterday, it was pretty good in my humble opinion. Had some really funny parts as well as some hit and miss stuff some of which failed to get a laugh. Nothing particularly ground breaking so if your not a fan of his style of comedy you won't like it but I didn't feel disappointed by it.
