i like it when men's design is quite 'statementy'

Bought these a few months ago, but haven't worn them once yet.

ooo neck n neck..
imo too chunky n hate flags on shoes..

btw@ what do you wear with them... the full ska look// zooted up n that?

i've got a few pairs of shoes that i always think 'do i look like a twat' while wearing... it's sometimes a thin line between awesome and hideous, but you've got to take the chance sometime imo.

i've got some irregular choice teal green suede brogues with a massive sole which i think i've only worn out of the house about 3 times.

they still fucking rule though...

Not the landslide of positivity I'd hoped for tbh

They're a divisive shoe and no mistake. Still, the Mrs will no doubt be charmed into liking them by the proposed boning off of Paulie.

(@ AKA pseudonym: I've worn them with a Paul Smith suit over a black/gold Fred Perry or black jeans & white t-shirt).

along with the fact that you'd have to be super tall and skinny with med-small feet lest you end up looking like Frankenstein--that'd just be awkward

eta: See, if you're short and wearing these, you'll look like your wearing mini barges on your feets. If you're tall and thick, you look like Frankenstein. If you're tall and lanky you just might be able to pull it off but you'd have to have the right attitude lest you just look like a poser fashion victim. The chances of these shoes looking good on anyone is greatly reduced.

When I see them my first thought is 'Frankenstein' too.

I used to wear a pair to school; they're ok but prob a bit Showaddywaddy.

Actually, they remind me of that photo of height-sensitive Bono.

I think I'm in love with your boots  They're gorgeous!! They so don't need to be black!! I keep looking at them :o

Creepers look good on the right person wearing the right clothes so can we have a photo of the whole ensemble OP??
I used to know a lot of teds.

I think brothel creepers are the kind of shoes that will wear you if you let them. They're not the kind of shoes that take kindly to someone who feels a bit wrong when they're wearing them. If you wear them then you need to really step out in them, be proud to be wearing them and know that you don't look like every other boring, trainer wearing cunt on the block. (No offence to trainer wearers, I'm one meself)

Griff, get those fuckin boots on, they are ace.

I think they are pretty cool but only a few people I have ever seen in them actually got away with it.

Can we have a pic of you wearing them to see?

I lurve BCs. They are cool and I am the queen of all things fashion related, of course, so obviously I'm right. ;)

If you're not fond of the full crepe sole thing, TUK make some good Brothel Sneakers - based on a Plimsole sort of base:

I like these pink zebra ones, myself :)

buy them off Timothy Claypole did you?

:D

actually, seriously, as coincidence would have it i was gonna put up a thread asking if there is anywhere you can still get those classic old suede Chelsea Boots eceryone used wo wear in the early 80s. I had a few pairs i'm sure I got from Shellys which looked tops. Looking on google all the ones now seem to have big clumpy toes and look shite. maybe someone on here knows the sort i'm after. they just had eleasticated sides, no zips either. very "psychedelic Furs" stylee if ya know what i mean.

ETA: actually,. looking at them again, those ones you've posted above are pretty close to what i'm after, but with the toe not as pointy. and in a more becoming colour, natch ;)

intersting thread as i recently found in a box back at my old dear's a pair of brothel creeprs i must have had about 25 years ago which , i must say, look really fucking col.

they're more like THIS than some of the orthopedic space boots folk have been posting above:

http://media.photobucket.com/image/brothel creepers/1616six/h07.png

ie a comparatively thin sole, well worn down through time. Think they were from Shellys or 'Phaze' ...or maybe even Boy.

Still fit me fine n'all. fuck it! i'm gonna start wearing them. :)

The poll is unsatisfactory.

they don't float my boat but I stop short at calling people cunts for wearing them.

i've always prefered 60s clothes to 50s so ive worn plenty of chelsea boots in my time:cool:
i'm female and have pretty narrow feet and still find they took some getting used to, esp. if you generally wear trainers..

i bought the same mens black chelsea boots which a bf did (stride shoes, "one step ahead always"was printed inside..made in leicster or northampton)and while i definately expereinced some discomfort wearing them ...he complained of being in agony for weeks/months!!! griff i hope you have narrow feet!:p dont let me put you off!

BC's can feel a bit odd at first cos of the platform, but i think they are very comfy shoes..esp. compared to chelsea boots!

i think BC's can look fantastic too, depends on the vibe of the person wearing them/the rest of the outfit..

i like prince's shoes in the photo too.i'm all for ppl expressing themselves via their feet!

too many ppl(esp guys) are scared to wear anything a bit different:(
