That was simply a fantastic night.

Words fail me now and I do feel a little rough. ;)

:)I had a totally top night too. Despite the fact that I turned up late, was very drunk, got even more drunk and missed the last tube.

The band were fantastical though. Most excellent.

Feel a tad delicate this morning

Yep sure had a fantastic time - well at the pub anyway. The band were excellent as well as the support acts. Really impressed with the effort that went into doing up the pub & seeing it's local reckon I'll be dragging myself over to "What's Cooking?" again soon.

Also nice to meet you crustychick, albeit briefly! :)

If only I didn't over indulge when we got home. A big thanks to SZC for looking after me. Amazingly enough I made it into work although I still feel really crap. :(

That was such a great night! I was lovely to meet D :)

Firstly, the decor in their was brilliant. They hung strings of plastic flowers and leaves everywhere, there were long flowing gold curtains, framed pictures of country/rock legends and a big poster with "What's cookin'" hanging in the corner. It was wonderfully garish.

The support acts were quite good. The Tailors (sp?) and Emily Barker played some nice mellow folk, I thought her voice and the singer's voice harmonised well together. The blokes on afterwards were quite good, the singer was entertaining, as were his lyrics.

Broken Family Band amazed me. I had heard very little of their stuff before seeing them but my sister had told me lots of good things about them. They played loads of songs and were very friendly and entertaining. The singer was joking in between songs and by their last song they had us up from out seats and dancing. Their music is really good, I loved their lyrics too. :D

All in all, a great night.......

......and then I got trashed at home (hehe, wobbly) :D

ngeru - don't worry about it! Hope you're ok today mate :)

that was the best night out ive had in ages!!!!! :D
very very good music...and im not even "that into" country!
(tho had seen broken family b4 so knew how good they are)
i WILL be back...

there was a great painted banner over the stage with freddy fender(mexican country singer of "wasted days and wasted nights" fame)riding a wild bull, you have to see it..very "folk art"
the people doing the night were very freindly and had made a lot of effort
with the decor

it was so nice to speak to bluestreak and his freinds, crustychick, subzerocat and d for the first time...
seeing the urbanites i already knew was possibly even better!!!

thanks so much LD for offering me a relaxing, magical new experience in the pub and at yr house :D
ps..im sorry you got sick negru...hope you get a brillant fluffy cloud sleep tonight

that was fucking wicked, it was really one of the best nights i've had in ages, and it's been a whole summer of excellence!

Innit, I've just told my mate (who I reckon would like them) and I'm gonna get us tickets for the 20th!

Oh fuck. That's my dad's birthday.

Meh :D

Can someone help a lazy person who's shortly off to the pub**, and please post a link to Dub's thread about the 20th??

I can't be arsed just now like ... :p

**Wish the gig was TONIGHT -- Stig's busy socialising with colleagues of hers (staff only do), I'm not working tomorrow, and just now I've nothing to do except go to the pub  :p

Cheers BEARBOT but unfortunately I had a totally crap sleep last night & still feel awful. :(

Early night tonight me thinks in preparation for another full-on weekend...

I still cannot get over how good that gig was. IMHO much, much better than the Pixies who I saw the following night, not that they weren't good.

It was interesting to note some Offline acts there too. Johnny Clash on the decks and the Tailors who were first up have both played Offline.

I haven't been so excited by a band in since I was a teenager. I get butterflies in my stomach just thinking about them and keep playing them non-stop. :)
