PS. I can only do 1.5 laps before getting incredibly puffed and having to stop. I suck. I'd like to do this, though, I may consider later in the month.

but but - you're AUSTRALIAN - surely it's illegal for you to be shit at swimming? :D

I need to get my bike fixed or it's going to take me half an hour to get there of a morning....

What's wrong with it?

... and £145 for the non concessionary season ticket! Ouch.

Is that for all-day use or just for the morning swim?

I was there this morning - & it was lovely to catch the sun before today's rain - but I know I wouldn't use it enough for a season ticket...

I heard a rumour that a bigger changing room (possibly the old changing room:confused: ) would be opening at some point.

The old changing room will be the new gym. AFAIK through BLU - that's it for our changing rooms I'm afraid. I was told that the outdoor rooms were apparently added as a result of concerns voiced over the meagre facilities indoors.

The £145 will allow you to come and go as you please during opening hours.

From the BLU log:

"BLSG members expressed a consensus that, because of the very limited and unattractive space for showering and changing inside, it is essential to have warm and cold water in the outdoor showers. It is important that more than 3 people can shower at once---particularly for morning swimmers going to work. Swimmers do value a warm shower after a freezing cold swim. This matter was raised early in 2006 with Fusion as changing rooms were not adequate. We fear that we will all regret the failure to find a better solution. However, the provision of outdoor showers with hot water may help to balance things.
Fusion advises: The good news – We have relocated the positions of the outdoor showers in order for a warm feed can be accessed, also we
are looking to locate a couple up on the West side also.
The bad news – The showers this season will not be heated (or at least not until late) because of delays in the building programme imposed by water connection delays that were beyond the control of Fusion and its building contractor."

well the tyres are all squishy. That's it I think. And the back mud guard has been yanked off by a gasman getting to the meter :(

Why is your gas meter on your bike?

if you don't have the equipment to sort that out you can come via me and i'll do it for you. :)

I may take you up on that in August! Too busy this month - to be fair - to get it on the road again I just need a pump :)

Gas meter is behind where bikes are :(

Well I was getting 2-3 swims in a day last summer, with a lot of loafing about by the side of the pool as well, so it worked out ok.

Getting the season ticket forces me to go more often and saves me trips to the physio - i think it works out at £12 per week this summer, which is probably a little bit more than what you'd pay for gym membership; if i didn't think of going to the gym as organised torture.

There's one down side with this exercise business - Its 3pm and I'm knackered.

Does anybody know the cut-off times for an early morning/late evening priced swim? There's no mention of them on the Lido site and their phone isn't being answered at the moment.

Thanks for posting if you know the answer.

I don't remember well - but I think it's 9am for the morning - can't remember about the evening - but I'll ask tomorrow for you. :)

I think the details are on the fusion site.:)

but............how cold was the water though?

*hops up and down in excitment*

(there is two things i am terrible at a) getting up in the mornings

and b) getting into the swimming pool at the beginning of the season)

It was chilly for the first length, but then ok.

gaijingirl... if it's like this tomorrow morning not sure if I'll make it or not - I know it doesn't matter if it's raining when you're in a pool - but might be going out after work - and don't want to be that wet :(

(I'm a semi-fair weather cyclist - wind and torrential rain I don't do well ;))

Fair enough - it is pretty shitty. I think I'm getting crotch rot myself from perpetually getting wet on my bike... 3 times today plus a swim - I reckon I've spent more of today wet and soggy than dry... :(

Wow! Am well impressed with all you hardcore swimmers!

I loved the few times I went last year - like a mini-holiday before work - but I'm holding out for more summery weather...

you went!! Choc and I inaugurated the Brockwell Lido Lunchtime Club instead... :o :D

Had the whole pool to myself for a while there.

Early morning concessions apply until 10am and evening from 6pm until closing.

The concessions season pass is £101.50 which is ridiculous. I don't understand how the ordinary tickets have increased by such a small percentage whilst the season pass is over 25% more expensive.

The changing rooms are already dangerously slippy and very muddy.

I'm overjoyed we still have a lido but I'm not impressed with Fusion at all. It doesn't give me much hope for reasonable entry fees to the new gym come September either. :(

I did  :D

But didn't do breakfast - I only had about 8p in my purse :D

How's the crotch rot?

muddy -  I thought the building was now watertight and the builders were just doing internal finishes now.

Muddy from dirty shoes ;)

What she said. Outside, one section of the newly landscaped lawn has been laid with turf, but there's a LOT of mud out there too, in particular surrounding the Lido building - especially with the current weather and the building works.

Blue matting down in the changing rooms now - so much safer. Notices up about how the showers will not be heated till the end of July (really felt the cold this morning).

I heard today from another BLU member that next Tuesday is 70p entrance all day* - 'cos of it being the 70th birthday party (but it closes at 5pm) and if you go at either 10am or 2pm you can get a copy of the history of the lido book signed by the author and - here's the best bit.. FREE CAKE from Casey!!

Yes - FREE CAKE!!!

*disclaimer - haven't seen this written down anywhere yet though...
