Is anyone else on Virgin Broadband? Are you experiencing connection/loading problems lately?
Since Virgin automatically rolled out an 'upgrade' to the BB speed a week ago, I've had intermittent problems. Sometimes it's been fine (-although I'm fairly sure it's not actually become any faster...), then for hours at a time (-usually post-lunch, and evenings...
) pages aren't loading or or it's just not able to connect at all.
Before the upgrade, I think the modem software was showing that I was getting about 2.5 Mbps download speed (-woo, eh!...
). Since the upgrade, the modem shows it's connected at 5.4 Mbps (-even when the loading pages are stalling <??>).
I've done various online speed tests throughout the week, and even when I've had no problems, I've been getting consistent results of approximately only 1.6 Mbps (download). -Which is about the same as I was getting before this 'upgrade'. (-It's certainly no better, anyway).
I've been meaning to switch to a different ISP for ages (Be?), where I'll potentially get a much faster speed for the same amount I'm currently paying with Virgin (£17.99). In the meantime though, can anyone explain why I'm having connection problems, and/or why there's such a difference between what the modem's telling me and what the online speed tests are telling me?
