NATIONAL DEMO AT RAF BRIZE NORTON (OXFORDSHIRE) : 2nd December

RAF Brize Norton is the base from which all British troops are flown to Iraq and Afghanistan, and where they return to (alive and dead). This national demonstration to the gates of the base is to demand immediate withdrawal of British troops. RAF Brize Norton is also being used to refuel American military flights transporting munitions between Kelly air force base in the USA to Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv, taking bombs to be used by the Israeli Defense Force in the current war in Lebanon.

A big turn out at the gates of the base will send a clear message to the government, and is an act of solidarity with the service people and their families who want Britain to withdraw.

A LITTLE MORE : This National Demonstration can make a real impact. It has the full support & backing of the National Stop The War Coalition & National CND. A similar demonstration was held last year when the response from the people of Carterton, the largely military town which lies next to the airbase, was very positive. Kate Hudson, national chair of CND, is reputed to have said that it was the best demonstration she had ever been on. Demonstrating there enables us to make important links between the occupations of Iraq & Afghanistan. Brize Norton is the base from which soldiers are sent to both countries & to which fatalities are returned. Senior military commanders are arguing for British troops to be withdrawn from the 'unwinnable' war in Iraq to be sent to the 'winnable' war in Afghanistan.

ALSO OF INTEREST : Brize Norton is also the place they brutally force Iraqi asylum seekers into military planes & deport them to Iraq. Some other the Iraqis deported like this report being assaulted. They said they were forced to wear army fatigues & helmets. Elsewhere, Afghani asylum seekers are forcibly deported on charter flights. Afghanis have been beaten up & dumped back, injured, in detention centres. Some of the Afghani's locked up in UK detention centres are just kids, who have risked their lives getting here. Some died on over-land routes to the UK.
