Brixton lido breakfast club

Where's that?
It's with fusion, that have pools in Camberwell, East Dulwich, Peckham, Elephant and a few other places... but none outdoors.

Sorry for derail.

I'm still up for paying £5 to swim outdoors :)

I don't think there's a cafe by the Lido anymore! :(

Lovely idea but i'll be hard pressed to get up to go swimming on the weekend let alone on a week day! I am lazy.

The large one along the length of the pool is never open anymore, but there's a small one tucked into the corner by the shallow end that was certainly open all last summer.

Got that's expensive. No concessions here. How long is it open for?

Well that's the annoying thing.. you never know. LAst year they promised to keep it open until, I can't remember the date exactly, and I trotted along one morning to find they'd decided to suddenly shut it. :(

Dunno about mornings cos:

1) I'm bad at getting up
2) I have to be at work at 8.30am

Although Crispy's idea of an afternoon swim or summat, maybe on the weekend sounds cool.

Actually, Crispy - a bunch of us could go, it would be a change from drinking :D oh but Pika can't go cos he can't swim + he's hydrophobic :D :o

They let you train in triathlon wetsuits at the Lido I think, so I might be up for this, I've got to train there most mornings anyway.

I've swum there in my wetsuit many mornings.

Can't actually fit into it any more though. And if I did try and do a triathlon it would have to take place over several days. :(

No way?!

*Holds glass of water in front of Pika's face and makes "Wooaaoooh!" noises*

I'm guessing regular swimsuits are ok too? Sorry if I'm being stupid by why do you swim in a wetsuit? I thought they were only for scuba diving/deep sea diving?

When you do open water swims in a triathlon you almost always have to wear a wetsuit. Swimming in a wetsuit is quite a different experience to swimming without one, lots of people feel extremely claustrophobic and getting it on and off can be tricky too - you can lose quite a bit of time in transition at triathlons fiddling with a wetsuit.

So it's best to practice.

Triathlon wetsuits are completely different to surfing/scuba wetsuits.

i might, once school breaks up.

point worth bearing in mind for those planning afternoon swims, is that swimming with hyperactive "babygangsta" teenagers is probably what happens in the 7th circle of hell.

So - if you're like me: avoid weekends, after 4pm till around 22nd/25th july, and most of the day/eve thereafter (reckon pre 9am should be safe, though).

The Brockwell Lidos Users group sent out a mail today quoting £80 for a full seasont ticket, or £5 per swim.

Bargain!

Reckon I'll easily get in 16 swims this summer.

It's £2.50 for the early morning swim.

Can only echo what gg said. The early morning swim is ACE. Loads of spcae, lots of lovely people and a feeling of smugness before you even hit 9am.

And Paddy and Casey are involved in the running of the Lido once again this year :)

£80 isn't too bad I guess.......

Being outdoors is the only thing that makes me want to go. I hate indoor swimming pools......

this will be a killer.

not only get up at about 6.15! but also hop into freezing cold water at a cold time of the day.

however the tea and toast sounds amazing! :)

my enthusiasm says yes! my reality check says unrealistic...?

i will try.

how much is it in the mornings again?
are you planning to go every morning gg?

oops sorry just read page 2 and saw the prices.

£ 80 for a season ticket? i might go for it! i love swimming.

and like pieye only outdoors does the trick!

Sounds like a good idea to me :)

We should try to fit that in before I go away actually - providing the weather's boiling hot again. :)

Edit to add: Or... we could always get up mega early at the weekend and go then...? - Sorry to hijack thread with alternative outing btw.

I had you in mind when I posted that, in relation to our conversations about wholesomeness :D
