Brixton good service/unsung heroes

I've not read this thread in it's entirety and I know it's not a popular place on these boards BUT I have to admit that the staff in Sainsbury's next to the tube station have never been anything but charming and polite everytime I've been. Always serve you with a smile on your face.

So they get my vote.

Together with the nice guy in the 2nd hand bookshop on CHL.

The Portugese Deli on Tulse Hill, lovely family, excellent bread, veg and custard cakes,

BTW - this place is called Nune's and the parents of the couple who run it have a much larger shop on South Lambeth Road with even more nice stuff!

Resurrecting this threads to thank Specsavers again: it turned out I needed new lenses on my 14 month old glasses. No charge.

went in there today to collect ultra-cheap glasses

they were busy but very quick and friendly

it is a marvellous place

would have saved me thousands over the years, had i cottoned on sooner

The estate shop on Moorlands. They are brilliant. Example. They didn't have something but later on, having gone to the cash & carry, delivered to my door with a smile. Just lovely people, really.

Just the lovely, patient staff at the Sainsburys. Working in such a confined environment, for not much money, dealing with arseholes and still managing to be lovely...

and also the staff at the starbucks. they're very cool, whatever your opinion of chain coffee places...

I had an encounter with the sweetest young man today in Argos. He didn't do anything special or particular but was just very lovely and kind to me packing the bags up for me and wishing me a good day. Another place which can't be the most rewarding to work in, but he put me in a good mood when I was feeling a bit knackered.

Unsung Heroes. The list, so far, seems to focus on good service and shopping. So for a unsung heroes i'd suggest :
Polish Anna from Streatham Citizens Advice Bureau. The CAB is just a brilliant and totally needed organization. Anna has been advising and managing the advisors who help people with problems such as housing, debt, legal etc etc. It is a full time, often stressful, under resourced and unpaid job which brings relief and often a lifeline to thousands of people each year. Anna used to be involved with Solidarity in Poland and is a top woman, we are lucky to have her in Lambeth. If anyone wants a part time rewarding job then volunteer as an advisor then the CAB needs you.

Iveagh House Surgery on Loughborough Road. I've had nothing but fantastic service from these doctors including superb free acupuncture sessions that fixed my RSI when all hope was lost and a really thorough examination from a dermatologist today who took time out to patiently explain everything about my (minor) condition. A credit to the NHS.

I agree 100%, great surgery, different specialisms and friendly reception staff, especially Claire who's been there forever.
