i think its better than it was last summer. I guess the next few months will be critical, but there seems to be loads of coppers in central brixton during the day and judging by last night's antics outside my flat (see above post), the night time patrolling seems to be improving as well.

I don't remember this crap going on on anything like this scale before 1998/99.

When I was young, there certainly weren't hoards of drug dealers flagrantly dealing their wares on the high street - often standing in a row, mumbling "skunk" and doing that stupid bobbing-up-and-down thing like some kind of idiotic hoop-la stand.

The answer to the "displacement effect" is also rather simple: clear it out immediately wherever the problem attempts to move to. Eventually there'd be nowehere for these arseholes to set up shop.

It's not necessarily is it though. The police crackdown on all dealers, particularly weed dealers, makes it far more profitable to start selling the harder, more addictive and harder drugs.

It's the demonising of all dealers - much like you have - that makes the situation more desperate and cutthroat imo.

The problem gets moved from locale to locale. It's like a circus.

The problem itself won't be solved until the problems that keep people in habitual drug-use are properly addressed.

And easier. I know the police make excuses about not differentiating between dealers, but it's a waste of resources cracking down on a dozen weed sellers when you could be nicking the crack 'n' smack retailers.
