Brixton Cycles squatted YES

Well I thought the place had a very nice vibe. It's great to see it open.
I kind of liked it, I guess I like a bit more politics with my squatting or something, but I'm not knocking it. People had obviously worked really hard, the space looked great, it'd be nice place to stop for a cup of tea or something, I can see it being a good place to hang out, and has exciting potential, especially if some of the workshops planned for happen. :)

top space and expo, a little bit of brick lane in brixton, what seemed weird was that it was a squat, in E1 it just happens anyway, positively encouraged.

I enjoyed the exhibition but what I really like is the customised bikes that man was doing - he was painting a tricycle when I was there :) Does that chopper with the flame paintjob belong to him? It made me want to go and get my sad, brown bike and foist it upon him for reinventing :D

Just popped in there and got all nostalgic for Cooltan and the old arts squat-tastic Brixton of ten years ago.

Great work fellas/fella-esses!

yeah, i was drawn in on saturday and really liked the whole thing and space and how it is done up now.

very cool and proactive. well done!

Ha - beat me to it :)
Yeah, but my pics are well crap - I didn't expect the place to be open so didn't bring my camera and had to use the ultra crap thing on my phone instead...

And your article is better than mine too!

Did you hear that St Agnes place is about to be evicted big time, with demolition teams ready to charge in ASAP? :(

Been following this thread with interest.

Been unable to make it down there,(bit housebound at the moment),so nice to see some pics !

Looks good.

Any more info on this?? :(

Editor, or anyone, when you know a bit more detail on this, can a new thread be started dedicated to the latest troubles at St Agnes??

This is terrible news, I thought the threat had been fought off after last time, at least for the foreseeable :(

no chance, everyone i've seen from st agnes laterly has had a distinct seige mentality / sense of impending doom, and at least one longterm resident felt compelled to leave :(

There's at least one poster here who knows a lot more about the situation than me so I'm hoping he'll post up more details shortly.

Thanks editor and Dub ....

which forum do you recommend?

I see your point ... St Agnes isn't exactly Brixton (although it's very much in Lambeth :( ), but maybe the London forum is too broad?

I'd suggest PMing the editor for advice on that one, or Mrs Magpie.
