British Bands of the 00s???

I read that in Artrocker the other day but seems it's wrong. Whatever, Street Horssing was my fave album of last year by a little distance.

No way they're French....one of them is from Kidderminster and the other's from Bristol!

And now how about we ask for the opinion of someone with ears?

This thread needs a bit of a clean after that...

Kills all known indie shite!

Basement Jaxx are a name that spring to mind ("Remedy" was 1999 but the other 3 albums have been this decade), but an obvious choice who haven't been mentioned yet are below;

God I love Nicola so very very much :eek:

Anyway, I'm bumping this thread because I just put on 'asleep in the back' and realised that nobody mentioned Elbow.

As fa as traditional guitar based bands I don't think there is one. I quite like Biffy Clyro. But not massively. I think the trouble is the way british indie music has become corparatised and as someone who's ploughed the toilet circuit recently I find a lot of the people in bands I've met in recent years seem more desperately careerist than ever before. Its like everyones read a handbook on how to be a cunt. I'm not sure theres much "art" or "love" in music now.

Whenever I see british bands now I always look and see if the haircuts cost more than the instruments, if they do I dismiss them. Because then they might as well be Girls Aloud (who I think are much more interesting than fucking Razorlight).

The best bands in britain are the ones rehearsing right now in a room and enjoying themselves and don't give a fuck about whst we think or if the'll get a deal. So we will probably never get to hear them.

Some of the ones I really like, like Los Campesinos, have already been mentioned. I remember going watching them and being one of the only people there. It was really fun.

I can't really think of any others off the top of my head.

The only band I would go out on a limb and say that I quite like is probably The Cribs. I really don't know if I should feel a bit ashamed for liking them, as they are a bit haircutted and NME. But I really like quite a few of their songs.

Nah, we'll get to hear them in some grotty pub somewhere instead of from the back row of Wembley stadium. Which can only be a good thing IMO.

The best band in Britain is the one I haven't got around to forming yet. It's going to be a sort of electro-death-folk version of Neutral Milk Hotel :cool:

I like both those. I know what you mean about The Cribs though, I mean, they have a song called 'Hey Scenesters!'. Heheh. I really like them though, especially his voice.
