Chris Hoy destroyed everyone in the Keirin as we half expected, but brilliantly Ross Edgar out-did the others to sneak the silver. Plus tomorrow we've got Wendy Houvenaghel and Rebecca Romero facing off in the Pursuit final.

Anyway, my question is this; are these the first British 1-2s in the Olympics since Coe and Ovett, and have we ever done it another time I can't remember?

Did Sanderson & Whitbread ever 1-2? Probably not.

Can't think of many others, a lot of our golds in the last twenty years have come in events you can only enter one team in (rowing, hockey, 4x100 relay etc) or only had one outstanding competitor in

True. What about the horsey events? I don't really pay them any attention but we usually get something from them.

I remember at the 1993 World Championships Colin Jackson and Tony Jarrett got gold and silver in the 110m hurdles, but neither ever really set the Olympics alight.
