In principle, it sounds like a brilliant idea.

In practice, I'm not sure how many urbanites there are going to be in Westest Wales...

For a food party... I can make the 2 hour drive. :)

I need to get my kitchen sorted in my new house first mind.

We could have same dishes/theme on the same night..... just different parts of the country, different countries, the world even and then have a post-mastication chat online :D

Good come back :D

So, anyway, I am up for this, when shall we do it?

With all this showing off of having proper napkins, ice cream dishes and dinner tables i'm feeling a little inferior :( ;).

Just checked the diary and it's a busy time coming up, but I can do Friday 27th July and host here (left overs for the Crystal Palace Park Bowl picnic on Saturday) :)

You don't think I USE the napkins or matching cutlery or placemats, do you?

The dining table is completely covered with piles of boxes and rubbish and hasn't been used as a dining table since my daughter hosted a "murder mystery" dinner party ages ago!

I could bring it into use if I was hosting a dinner party, though, and would like to do so. If the weather is good, I have the patio, too, with my nice new furniture, courtesy of lidl, which has hardly been used because of the sodding weather.

Assuming I don't get offered a ticket to either the Cambridge Folk Festival or Womad, both of which are that weekend, I would be up for this. Can't confirm yet, though, so you may wish to keep me on your reserve list...

I love this idea - I have no dining room table per se but space for about 6 to eat. I love cooking though so am happy to arrive with dish. I can't do 27th though and am pretty busy this month and next with uni, but if this becomes a regular thing I'd be well up for it. I'm all about the food...

Well after moving into my new house it appears that my entire cooking facilities for quite some time will consist of a toaster, a kettle and a microwave.

Which means I'm out. 27th was incovienient anyway. I'll be hung over from the night before.

So what's happening with this? I'm guessing it's too late to do the 27th now.

Me too! Lots of them :)

Also happy to host one, after my daughter has taken all her stuff away, and freed up some space. Particularly since I have now posted up the squalor which I call home on the keyhole thread, so destroyed the image I am sure you all had of me living in a posh house :)

We're away for a while and then there is LD and Ngeru's leaving party on the last weekend of August - so how about September dates?

Sounds good to me, we'll be around more then!

Sounds good to me, too, although I have quite a few dates not available.

I am also wanting to hold the Urban Quiz on a Friday in September, so can you consult over dates, to avoid a clash?

Would'nt miss the Urban Quiz for anything ;)

Sounds like it might happen! All we need is someone to pick a date and a theme, and tell people what to bring (otherwise, we might end up with a load of puddings and no main course :D)

If you're hosting it, then it makes sense for you to chose the date and the theme. :)

Ooh, am I hosting it? I will have to chase that man who is supposed to be fixing my oven but keeps failing to turn up!

I will also have to clear out my dining room, which is a major task, since it is full of rubbish, and has been unuseable for months.

Other than that, I am happy to host it.

In fact, it would be good for me - I could use the incentive to get round to sorting out the dining room...

Hmm - I will think about that...

Middle two weeks of April are bad for me, but other times might be good. Certainly up for this. :)
