The RCP used to argue that we should let things get as bad as possible as it would force the working class to act.

They didn't realise that our class can actually be crushed.

One of the key differences between Thatcher and Blair is that the former had at least a level of competence - the Falklands War attracted massive support.

Some members of my family and friends strived hard to save Walthamstow Marshes in the early 80s. Doubtless in these modern times, people would be too busy watching Pop Idol or whatever and the marshes would now be gravel.

Thatcher initiated class-war on the working class (managers right to manage and all that). Blairism is about idealistic notions of "partnerships". A crucial difference.

But is, in fact, still the same old crap about "managers rigth to manage" - which is now almost totally unchalleneged by the left, seeing as part of the modu-operandi to enforce this dogma was to create thousands upon thousands more managers - to the point where they often outnumber the workers in many workplaces. Again, the left ignores this and now substitutes this bloated array of obnoxious managers for the working classes themselves.

I wonder how long it will take for people to get nostalgic for the Blair years once the Tories get back in and start to dismantle the health service, cut taxes and really start to give the poor a good kicking.
