 No way! You avoided a band...because of their NAME??? I'm speechless!

Well... maybe just didn't seek them out rather than actively avoid them. I mean I didn't, like, leave the room when someone mentioned them or anything.

Are you never put off a band by the name?

No  Never. I've never known anyone to say that, either

Well we are wierd then.

When hearing mention of a new band, we'll often comment on the crapness or brilliantness of the name.

Like, our current faves Screaming Tea Party: I thought it was a foolish name, annoying even in it's deliberate juxtaposition of twee and harsh, but my Beloved thinks it suits the band to a T (if you'll pardon the pun), since they are, in fact, a perfect marriage between twee Japanese melodies and ... well, screaming power punk.

And The Bridport Dagger - great name once you know what the fuck it means, crap name if you don't. (For weeks I thought they were The Bridgeport Badgers.) I was reluctant to go see them cos I thought they'd be staid and square. I was wrong, of course.

Should I start a thread on this issue, do you think?

They didn't rock hard enough

hmmm.
I don't think that's true for one thing, and for another I think the impetus
to ROCK HARD! kinda had a negative effect on Red Heaven and some of the later stuff.
I voted Muses - I love the Muses they were fucking great.
I do understand that it's not for everyone though and that it's not the sort of thing you can talk people round to,
