white pudding is amazing...especially Shaw's white pudding...it's a sausage shaped roll - only bigger, you cut off a slice & fry or grill it - it's quite spicy & lots of texture, pearl barley, onion & lots of throw-away cow bits (all the yucky bits people dont like talking about)

black pudding is similar but made with more blood to make it black

DELISH!!!

i love it soooo much - i'd often just have pudding for breakfast...fried & then mashed all over thick slices of brown soda bread with really thick butter MMMM i want some NOW

suitgirl: when I was in Ireland I couldn't get enough Irish sausage (phnargh!) - Denny's and Clonakilty. Yum. Even smuggled some back in my hand luggage :D

I have 2 breakfasts of champions - my normal, healthy breakfast of homemade granola, natural yoghurt and berries with hot water and lemon to drink and then my once in a while gut buster of sausage, bacon, grilled tomatoes, hash browns, scrambled eggs and thick granary toast loaded with butter.

Since I haven't had the latter for months tomorrow will be a lard busting experience :D

I would happily eat any and all of those breakfast items. Alas my Hollywood/New Age style food intolerances mean that I have to make my own muesli :D

It's nice though.

next time any of you are in Ireland, try and find a Superquinn supermarket and buy a TON of their (award winning) butcher sausages from the butcher counter. They are LUSCIOUS!!

Whenever we visit our cousins in UK we always smuggle some. Infact every time we go on hols to Crete we bring about 4lb of them for one of our Irish mates who lives there and pines for them :D

and if you cant find Superquinn - go to any normal supermarket and buy Kearns sausages - the next best thing.

Bit of toast, coffee, rolly on standby.

Or if I'm being healthy: Fresh fruit smoothie, coffee, rolly on standby.

Proper Golden Syrup on Rowies - very yummy :)

A daud of Golden Syrup in your porridge is quite tasty too.

Has anyone ever had colcannon? O'Neill's offer it as an option with their big breakfasts (which are brill) but I always go for chips. Is colcannon worth trying?

Haha! I think I have those. I wouldn't eat the bananas Mr Iso had bought because they're bad for colds/coughs but was happy to make them into banana bread and eat them. I'm so full of shit sometimes!

Healthy brek of kings:
Yoghurt, chopped fruit and sprinkling of whizzed up nuts and seeds (sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, oats, hazelnuts etc.. Whizz up and keep in freezer to keep all the healthy oils from going rancid)
Rice cakes and hoummous

Dirty brek o' kings:
Crumpets with melted brie and bacon + spinach leaves
Poached egg with smoked haddock on toast with spinach leaves
Coddled egg (basically egg + watercress put in a buttered mug and cooked in a pan o' water) with sausage + pumpernickel bread

(Notice how I always add a salady bit to dirty brek to make it "healthy" )

Well I'd go for scrambled eggs made with unsalted butter, black pepper, salmon offcuts, and fresh corriander on thick brown/wholemeal toast...

eta... and a double esspresso of course

A distinctive Aberdonian delecacy. Self-preserving rolls for the fishing boats - there is a thread in Scottish forum about them.

Colcannon - foul stuff. Potatoes & Kale.

A two egg omlette with chedder cheese n black peppa, at the side of that some tomatoes that have been fried in olive oil, at the side of that some flash fried field mushrooms and a pieca toast

It's funny cos it's true :D

(It totally runs in the family though :o)

I loooove wholemeal toast cut into soldiers and dipped into the runny yolk of a boiled egg. However, I don't like the white so I just chuck that afterwards!

I love breakfast at weekends.

Scrambled eggs on toasted muffins is a good one, with or without grilled tomatoes and/or fresh spinach.
