Bread Pudding

Oh I really fancy a bit of bread and butter pudding now....

The last time I cooked it I used my mum's cheat's method...

Butter / spread loads of white bread and cut into triangles.
Line a pyrex dish with the triangles, using the spread as an adhesive to stick them to the dish
add a handful of sultanas and a sprinkle of sugar
another layer of bread
and fill up the dish with alternate layers of bread and fruit/sugar
Pour some soya (or normal) milk over the entire thing, and leave it to sit for a few min while the milk is absorbed.
Pop it in the microwave for a few min
and then brown off the top under the grill.
yum

Oven proof glass.

Pyrex is a trade name.

Bread and butter pudding is a leftovers dish so improvisation is the name of the game I reckon. Story's panetone + christmas pudding recipe should be an inspiration to us all! (although did you mean ground cinnamon, not ground cardomon surely??)

Anyway my discovery, strictly for the lovers of the sweet and gunky, was made when I was throwing one of these together and realised I didn't have any dried fruit so went to my (then) utterly rubbish Local Shop to get some and of course they didn't have any. The best they could offer were those chocolate-covered raisins (are they called Toffets? summat like that) so I used those instead. Awesome results, little splats of melted chocolate with luvverley gooey raisins in the middle. I do it on purpose now, but go to M&S and get posho chocolate raisins

I thought that bread pudding and bread and butter pudding were separate entities, the latter being wondrously nice but the former a grey horrorslab studded with sultanas of doom.

Edit: As Pacific Ocean has already said, only vice versa.

I don't think bread pudding is acutally bread anyway - I aways though it was suet.

Bread and Butter pudding = Wrong.

Bread pudding (like you get at Greggs) = Right.
^^^ what he said! Apart from the Greggs bit. You want a small little bakery run by olds ladies with their hair in hairnets.
