Herbsman. said:yep, brilliant for making crap bread

There are also traditionalists who make bread 'properly'!!

I never used the breadmaker, and the person who did make the bread didnt do anything wrong, its just that the bread was crap compared to real breadgeminisnake said:If you've made crap bread it is YOUR fault, not the breadmaker. The breadmaker did not get the measurements wrong, or whatever else caused the crap bread
There is a large number of breadmaker fans in here mate.

Herbsman. said:good bread compared to shop bought bread maybe... but then any bread is good compared to shop bought bread
Savage Henry said:I don't understand people who need breadmakers ! It takes about 10 minutes to make a loaf of bread then stick it in the oven . People who need bread makers must be a bit simple![]()

I disagreeAthos said:No, great bread compared to other homemade bread which has been baked in the oven.
Herbsman. said:I disagree
Athos said:The only real difference is that it takes the time and hassle out on kneeding, and means the oven's not tied up for so long.
Perhaps the loaf you tried was from a crap bread maker?

Savage Henry said:FFS kneeding hardly takes anytime at all and it's quite theraputic IMO ! Admit it your a lazy bugger who is a slave to machines . I bet you claim that you "made" the bread "yourself" as well don't you !
then I challenge you to make better bread than IAthos said:How can you? You've never tasted the bread from my machine!
Herbsman. said:then I challenge you to make better bread than I
that includes naan bread and italian style flat breads btw

Athos said:It takes more time than I've got. And it ties up the oven if I'm in, or means I have to leave it on if I'm out, which I don't like doing.

Savage Henry said:It takes about 10-15 minutes to do the kneeding , about an hour to leave the bread to rise and then another hour to bake it . All of which can be done quite easily . Are you trying to claim that you are never at home for more than 2 hours ata atime , and that when you are home the oven is in constant use ! I appreciate bread makers can be convieniant but your making out hand made bread is some massive chore that takes hours of solid work and uses up the oven for days on end when it doesn't !
Athos said:It's not that I'm not in for more than two hours, although, there's many days when I'm not. And i know it's not a massive chore - but it is more hassle than the breadmaker. The point is, why bother when, in my experience, it's just as good out of the machine?! And I can set it so it's just finished as I get up... mmm.
Savage Henry said:I actually enjoy kneeding the bread so I don't see making bread as a hassle , the convienience of bread makers is ok but I just prefer making my own !
