pete doherty and amy winehouse are the only two songwriters worth anything to england today. if anyone has other ideas. i'd love to hear it.
You wouldn't. You're habitually incapable of listening to anything anyone tells you.

Is he from Hexham?
Explains a lot![]()
So you feel sorry for me if I go to see him, but you still want me to.
You're not making any sense. How rare
Don't. It's a trap.- just go and see him. .

not true. cos u know that apart from these two, i only listen to syd barrett and captain beefheart. so my standards are sky high. pete and amy write songs as good as either syd or don van vliet. other idiots like duffy or the arctic monkeys could never, ever ever do.

i dont feel anything - just go and see him. people on here say you know your music and i believe you do. so go and see pete for yourself, so you can at least comment on his performance style.

If we all went and saw him and thought he was even worse, would you listen?
I have seen him and think he is fucking awful.
pete is mostly awful live.
yeh i do. but pete is really brilliant live! please just give him a chance and go and see him. He is a captivating performer, and he wont let you down, i promise.

I saw the Libertines. They were pretty poor. Since Doherty's post-Libertines stuff is even worse, why in God's name would I want to go see him?

pete is mostly awful live.
he is the most captivating performer i have ever seen.

cos you are a musician? he is really captivating live. make sure you see him at glastonbury, for yourself.

You'll probably be proven right in the end.

thats why i want these english festival goers like el jefe to check it out. Cos if they go to a festival and miss out on one of the early greats,

well of course. i have seen james brown live around four times and prince six times now. Pete Doherty is just as exciting and elicits the same magic those performers do. just by being there. thats why i want these english festival goers like el jefe to check it out. Cos if they go to a festival and miss out on one of the early greats, they are being foolish (even though this person is just seen as a caricature in the press right now and all that)
see u in vancouver in september johnny!![]()

You said, about 3 posts ago, that he's awful live.
Which is it?Awful or brilliant?![]()

pete is mostly awful live.
usually hes absolutely phenonemol.)

Which is it? Awful or phenomenal?![]()

most definitely both, at the same time - i mean that, thats why you might like him![]()

yeh i do. but pete is really brilliant live!
So he's awful and phenomenal at the same time?
Right.
Shut up, Chesney![]()
okay sorry. you gonna go see him though?
please do! he is really brilliant. he'd have a private acoustic gig in the evening - and those are his best. i mean superbly good.
But awful too?
No, chesney, I won't be going to see him. He's irredeemably shit.
