Bra fitting - WTF?!!

Now in my rather tight 30D... mind you, the back size thing would explain why my bra straps have fallen down constantly in the past!

So...where would one recommend to go and get measured then?

I'm a bit weirded out by some of the sizes people are saying on here as I'm a 34 c/d :D

Yeah I want to get fitted but not sure where to go either. And would I have to buy a bra in the shop I got measured in?
Also, I have a few bras I have bought that I cant wear because the cups are too far apart and my boobs fall out into the middle, does anyone else get this?

i got fitted at rigby and peller, went to the bluewater one. no pressure to buy but she went and got some various styles for me to try on. as it turned out they didnt have anything suitalble ( ihave a very small back but big boobs) but she talked to me about good bra styles that were good for my size and how to check if a bra was a good fit.she even showed me how to make the best of the bra i was wearing

I read something the other day saying that the saying that Agent Provocateur staff were directed to measure people as 32C rather than 34B - or 34B rather than 36A because people prefer to think they're skinny with big boobs, even though the cup size is the same. :hmm:

I've realised via trial and error that I'm either 32C or 34B depending on the make - sometimes the 34B cup is too small and cuts in under my arms, and sometimes a 32C is too tight round the chest. But one or other usually works out fine. But I agree, I'd sooner be a 32C than an 34B :D

I'll have to be re-measured in a few months once things 'settle' - kind of hoping it will change, as she said 30 backs are a bugger to find.

Indeed 30 backs are a bugger to find. The daughter wears a 30C (or 28C, depends on the make) and we do have to hunt for them.

She hasn't inherited her mothers boobs obviously!

30's are pretty commonplace now i've noticed. m+s, la senza, even wonderbra. up to a G cup in most instances too! 30gg, now there's a problem (or 28h) :(

Well, after my experience, I'd recommend Peter Jones in Sloane Square.

And I'll bet you'll find you're less than 34!

I might go to John Lewis then. They're my preferred retail establishment. Last time I got measured was years ago and it was M&S. I reckon it's totally wrong. I fancy me some 30 action!

zenie - save up, and go to Rigby & Peller opposite Peter Jones (and elsewhere). You might have to wait a bit, but they won't rush you when you're in there. Take your time and be choosy. It will be worth it. I'm now a 30G and all the better for it ;)
eta @ tastebud too - but I bet you're both a lot less than a 30 back!

Can recommend Tallulah Lingerie on Cross St too (bad name - superb service).
Has good range from fair-enough-it-*is*-time-for-new-undies up to bloody-hell-how-much?!, but as has been said on this thread, you come out feeling like a new woman! Went in a 36a/b, came out a 32d

I've been a bit naughty and bought a cheapo 32C bra in a cheapo shop (cos it's not like I'll find a 30 anywhere around here) Figure the cups will be on the big side, and I'll wear it fastened tightest. It's only gotta last me about 8 weeks anyhow.

 and yeh but I'm about a 33 on the rib cage, i don't understand why the sizing's changed so much?

So where are we gonna buy bras on the high street?!

I'll give R&P a go, can be like the Queen for the day! :D (how much is an 'average' bra there?)

*adds to the list*

I don't understand this though, how bras are now 30 or 28s? Have the sizes changed all of a sudden? have they got bigger so we're kidding ourselves we're actually smaller than we are. (though it feels great being a size 6 in french connection, I know I'm being lied to!:()

it's as spangles said above, they all now have lyrca and the like in them, so the bands are stretchy. i'm only about 28inches round my ribcage though.

30G's are available in m+s, debenhams own brand, freya, fantasie, wonderbra, masquerade, ultimo and loads of others.

Oh actually I can't be a 33 rib cage if I wear a 34 can I?! :D

What is the correct way to measure then? Sorry if spangles posted it

*goes to check*

ooh also, when you buy a new bra make sure it fits well on the last hook, i.e. the *loosest* setting as the band will stretch with wear so you need room to be able to tighten it later.
