bra fitting- recommendations please

The 3/4 inches thing has never worked on me. But I read somewhere that it goes out of the window once you get in to larger back sizes. That link would make me a G cup but I'm sitting quite happily in DD...

Without looking at a pic I can't diagnose whether your bra fits. Is the back strap level all the way round? Do you have the straps relatively tight (the little moveable buckle thing near the top of your shoulder)? Are your boobs fully in the cup with no over spillage or wrinkled cups?

Pretty much. Cup size is possibly negotiable as I seem to be losing weight atm. Doesn't matter really tho as I cant really afford new bras. :o :)

Ah well then don't worry until your weight is stabilised. But if your bra seems to fit as per what I've set out above then you have reached the final stage of bra fitting glasshopper - if it fits who cares what the size is!:D

i'm getting fitted at rigby and pellor tmw .no way am i going to be able to afford any bras from there though :(

silly questions, but what does a bra fitting at r+p involve, how long does it take etc?

ime, the lady will look at you (bra off), dissappear, come back with about three bras - one of which will make you look two stone lighter and five years younger. she will then bring you other bras in the same size to try. although this is to sell you stuuf, it will give you an idea of which designs suit you best.

well, i got measured and i didnt fit into any of the bras they had in stock. i obviously have freaky boobs :(

clearly!

blimey - but i'm pleased they don't try and fob you off with the wrong size. hmm. can't think of where else to recommend - i mean, r&p do made to measure, but they're hundreds... what sizes were closest?

the fitter guessed i'd be a 30 f, tried it on and it were way too big in the back and a tad to small in the cup, so she suggested bravissimo as they do 28's

ahh - so it would seem that r&p aren't trying to compete on the 'range of sizes / small back big boobs' anymore. i guess trying to compete with bravissimo on those terms, with their comparative ubiquity and lower prices isn't realistic.

r&p will have their place (i got the most amazing piece of corsetry from there when i was bridesmaid for my sister) - but i shall stop recommending them as a sizing solution above and beyond bravissimo.

hie thee to covent garden, ms feyr.;)

[pokes head in..... feels a bit like those priests in Father Ted lost in the lingerie department..... scurries out again]...... phew!!!!

It's more common than you think, many many women are wearing too big a back and too small a cup size in their bras.

There was a Channel 4 programme on design a few years back showing two designers who were trying to 'design' and manufacture a new kind of bra?! During the programme it was claimed that only 15-20% of women had bras that were the correct size and fitted them properly.....

i was wearing the correct size before ie. 32g/34ff, but my boobs have changed again. not as bad as last time when i went from a 32dd to a 32g!

I know what you mean I've only recently stopped changing so rapidly, indeed the last time they changed they went from 30HH to 30H - the only time they've ever gotten smaller  and they seem settled, at least for now...

Embrace them anyway, they're squishy :p

well,, i am still on the hunt for a suitable bolstenholder :( mr feyr went and bought me a 28 f, a 28 ff and a 28 g and none of them fit quite right, 28 f feels to small in the cup, i get the dreaded 4 boob, 28 ff still overspill but not as much, and the g feels slightly too big although its the best of the bunch. someone told me that if you could turn the bra round to fasten it at the front easily then the band is too big. if i could find a 26 g i think i'd be on to a winner. maybe i should just eat some pies till i fit into the 28 g :D

I'm glad to see this thread. I haven't been measured for a bra for about 14 years and was told by my local M and S they didn't do it anymore... probably I just looked a bit scruffy that day

It's on my to do list to get measured as I really have no idea what size I am... and my boobs are really quite different sizes (at least a cup size!)
