I just read this article about an international campaign to boycott Israel. Has any one else ever heard of this?

CUPE in Ontario votes to boycott Israel

The Ontario divison of Canada's largest union has voted to support an international campaign that is boycotting Israel over its treatment of Palestinians.

Delegates to the Canadian Union of Public Employees Ontario convention in Ottawa voted overwhelmingly Saturday to support the campaign until it sees Israel recognizing the Palestinians' right to self-determination. The Ontario group represents more than 200,000 workers.

The global campaign started last July and has been supported by many North American churches, 20 Quebec organizations, and others, Canadian Press said.

CUPE also condemned what they called Israel's "apartheid wall," saying it is illegal under international law.

"Boycott, divestment and sanction worked to end apartheid in South Africa," said Katherine Nastovski, chairwoman of the CUPE Ontario international solidarity committee.

"We believe the same strategy will work to enforce the rights of Palestinian people, including the right of refugees to return to their homes and properties."

Well done , CUPE. Long reign the common man.

Before a resolution to impose an academic boycott on Israel is accepted, Israeli and Jewish organizations have already started their battle.

The largest university and college lecturers union in Britain, the National Association of Teachers in Further and Higher Education (NATFHE) is still likely to adopt a boycott resolution.

I wrote to support the NATFHE yesterday.

Israeli leaders and academics on Monday slammed a vote by the largest university and college lecturers' union in Britain in favor of a motion recommending that its members boycott Israeli academics and institutions that do not publicly declare their opposition to Israeli policy in the territories.

The motion passed with 106 in favor and 71 against. There were 21 abstentions

Nice one.

Boycotts must be discriminate, naturally;

One born every minute...

Means nothing. Neither "boycott" amounts to diddly. As for the Canadian nonsense, they need to get out more. Israel OFFICIALY recognised that "right" with Oslo I.
