My favourite Bowie album is...

kooks is a lovely song... there's a great live version on the bbc sessions album, recorded the day after he wrote it (the day after zowie - i think - was born).

Ziggy, The Man Who Sold The World, i even like some of his eighties stuff!

Bowies fuckin boss regardless :D

It's either The Best of David Bowie 1969-1974 or The Best of David Bowie 1974-1979, followed closely by The Best Of David Bowie 1980-1987 (though it has few stinkers on it).
The only studio album I've ever had is Low and that's rather good.

Lodger (did I mention that that's his best album?) gone straight onto the turntable upon me getting home

Between Hunky Dory and Ziggy - with Aladin Sane getting an honurable mention. All fantastic albums. Although he did some great stuff afterwards (esp Station to Station ) the early 70s were his purple patch - I think a fair bit of credit for that should go to Mick Ronson.

Never liked young americans - bit of a blot on his otherwise superlative 70s output.

Lets Dance - and everything after - was shite to medicore.

Interestingly Bowie was up to his bollocks in debt to his record company unitl Lets Dance sold by the truck load. Clearly financial security and a healthy tan did far less for his creativety then being skint and off his chunk.

quite liked Outside as well - although the liner notes/concept was a bit crap.

he has a knack tho of latching on to interesting stuff about a year or more after it hits. Can't recall which lp, but he ripped off the Pixies (and acknowledged it) on one track.

Buddha of Suburbia anyone?

Liked the title track of 'Buddha' but the whole soundtrack was awful

Alladin Sane for me. Shocked that it's not a poll option.

Am surprised that Low has so many votes. Side 1 is great, but side 2 is boring.

I'm saying the early 80s production values and arrangements he and Rogers brought to the album delivered a product that was sub Duran Duran. The best way of seeing this is to compare the two versions of China Girl.

I see - well I can't even remember what China Girl sounds like, so it can't be that good either way, but I love shiny 80s Rogers productions - Notorious is great
