Boundary changes 2015/2018

The Boundary Commission for NI doesn't report until January, but it would certainly be very surprising if they reached DUP-friendly conclusions. They're not susceptible to political pressure.

Revised parliamentary maps have been set out by the UK's four boundary commissions that would cut the number of MPs by 50.

The planned new boundaries would have had a significant impact at the 2017 general election had they been in place at the time, analysis by commissioned by the BBC, ITV News, Sky News and the Press Association found.

The Conservatives would have won an overall majority of 16 at the last general election if the proposed boundary shake-up had been in place.

Under the plans, based on rule changes introduced by the former coalition government in 2011, the number of seats will be reduced to 600.

There's a full list of constituencies likely to change, but no details on how the boundaries will actually change.

if those changes were in force last election cons would have a decent majority apparently. The commission itself says this isn't a rigging (it favours both the cons and the DUP significantly) but in fact FPTP is to blame. Obviously they'll want to get them voted in before the next election and I recon roll out that little 'no ID no vote' idea that was tested not so long ago.

Article I read was saying that some cons themselves might not be happy to vote for it as it erases thier seats or makes them marginals. Tory rebels all fold when the chips are down tho.

Islington North would be gone lol
