Boss off for a long time

My manger of department has had a stroke and is gonna have to have a heart op imminently. This happened about a month and a half ago.

he's been doing the extra responsibility for a year already without asking. I don't think they can pull that one on him

Well I've gone up another grade and officially recognised as boss
No extra money as "everyone" is on a pay freeze regardless of promotion. Despite me pointing out that being bottom of the pay scale was now actually affecting me in a negative way

Overall though they are pleased with my performance and "think I have more than made my mark" which is nice to know.

well done jusali, its a pisser not to get any extra cash, but it is true that being at the bottom of a higher scale gives you the opportunity to see some good pay increases in the future.

Congratulations on getting the recognition, but it still sounds like they're taking the piss to me.

Yeah, they are but I'm not likely to get any better deals anywhere else at the moment.
The way dot.gov is selling everything off and the economy is going it's not looking good anywhere. I'm seriously wondering about this "end time" concept and whether the good times are well and truly over.

Congrats...same deal at my place on pay, said they'd review once business picks up and "reward us" for the hard work during the last 6 months. Many people are in the same boat.
