Boro can't get away with it again, can they?

I wouldn't have thought they'd lose a place, as the UEFA doesn't only go on league position. Teams from the cups can win and could possibly affect a different division to the one their in (if a Championship side won the league cup, for instance) if that was the case.

I'll be definetly be watching the Smoggies lastest comeback victory in the UEFA cup semi-final later on tonight (on Channel 5). Superb comeback yet again many congrats to Boro, i hope they go on to win the ting!

Just done a bit of checking on the exchanges and when Boro went 2-0 down there was over £150,000 matched at 1.01. That is: those who stuck a tenner on Steaua not qualifying made £1000. Of course if you stuck down a grand to make a tenner you wouldn't be laughing, but still...
Unbelievable! Massimo in the last minute again too. Well done smoggies. :)

Congrats 'Boro

That kind of 'never say die' attitude that Boro have shown tonight and against Basle recently is whats been sorely missing from Englands displays IMHO. Well done Boro, Well done McLaren.
I am not an avid fan of this 'must be English' diatribe over the English post but if Mac could bring that attitude to an England squad then perhaps the FA have chosen the wrong guy......again!

The league position is almost certainly to do with going so far in the competitions. Boro aren't your Chelsea or Arsenal with enough talent on the bench to beat most other first teams. If you look at the league matches we've been playing recently, there's 10 changes or so from each match, so as to rest the players.

The youth training academy which promised to be the best thing since sliced bread when it opened is started to show it's stuff, it seems.

Good times to be a 'boro fan! The best ever, in fact!

Hooray! After watching a tense fa cup semi with Tommers and seeing us drop out while he celebrated I started watching tonight's game with sheer dread. Spirits were pretty low but what a comeback! What a comeback! Come on Boro! Wish I could be there celebrating with the masses and have a parmo on the way home

*anyone from boro will understand the parmo thing!

Ah, lemon top! That's something I forgot about in the "Regional Foods" thread. Although it may not be entirely regionally; just better in Redcar. You from there, btw?

Aha! You got it! Gave you the chance to present the London pizza on the reg thread after stealing your thunder on the parmo thing! Boro born and bred linthorpe gal myself but living in deepest darkest south east london now. Up the Boro!

From sunny Park End ( ) but now living in Leeds.

Is a London pizza only from 'boro? We're so inventive with artery-clogging foods! :D

F***ing hell, I had a London pizza in some dive on my one and only trip to Boro some time in the early 90s. Garlic bread with chips and cheese on top isn't it? I thought they were taking the piss. :D

I also made the journey from boro to Leeds where I lived in Armley and had to sign a disclaimer to say if I got ill or died thru asbestos poisoning I wouldn't sue.

Yeah it's a cheese n tom, not garlic bread. Although I'm sure it works well enough with that.

Agree with lemontop. Parmo!

Would over-rated bald Brazilian Scolari led Middlesbrough back from 3-0 deficit?

I don't know...but he probably wouldn't have them hovering over the relegation zone either

Fantastic match - it made up for the last 2 nights of Chumps League tedium.

I can't stand Boro usually but they were great tonight and I really hope they win it now - and I think they will.

It certainly looks to be on the cards. However, I am realistic, and this is 'boro. Albeit a new, high-flying 'boro.

We've won one trophy in our entire existence. Been to a few finals and everyone's had high hopes. I'm trying not to get too excited.

I'm sure if we do win it, it'll be another skin'o'the teeth nail-biter which will probably finish my fingers off (I'm a chronic nail biter  ).

English teams, and the England team itself, do seem to have this weird knack of letting teams get the upper hand and then snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Can't remember the last time an English team won something important with a certain victory; winning from the off.

Maybe Liverpool's UEFA? Don't remember.

Anyway: C'mon 'boro! :D

Imagine the scene - it's the Seville dressing room in Eindhoven just before the 2006 EUFA Final kicks off.

Last minute team talk from the Seville manager (in Spanish but I'll translate for you Inglezi)

"Remeber lads, whatever you do, for fuck's sake DON'T SCORE FIRST !! OK ?"

Better than balding red-faced McClaren, upon being asked what he did to win the game looking sheepish and saying 'I don't know'...

He's had bloody millions to splash at Boro; and he's got one tin cup, one final and a bottom half of the table premiership place. Gibson will give him more money as well!
